Like I said no single study is definitive. There needs to be a weight of evidence over time, that's reproducible, and independently verifiable.

The first study found that people with black sounding first names don't get called back as much, with a >99.99% confidence.  Not 100% (what is?), but this is much more confidence than the usual 95% threshold.

vault123 said:
Even then motivations, and contradicting information (like the kind we discussed) still need to be taken into account.

We discussed that and took that into account.  Washington and Jefferson don't sound as black as Jamal and Rasheed, which very likely explains the discrepancy.  And puts the motivation of the second study into question.

All things considered I would say this is a long way from proving the existence of white privilege.

It's not that long a ways at all.  One more similar study, and you'll have much, much, greater confidence.  Or how about 2 more similar studies?

Agreed.  At least for those people that understand statistics.

What about Asian names?

What ever happened to the outrage over universities discriminating against asians in favor of black students?

It was on favour of blacks because they wanted more "diversity"

Are you okay with any race getting preferential treatment?

Especially in regards to school, race shouldn't be a factor at all. It should be purely merit based. and if that leads to a school being 70% asian then so what?

No it was in favor of whites and blacks

White enrollment in California universities has plummeted since they banned race based affirmative action

I like the way Texas does it. The top 10% in every high school is guaranteed a spot in the state university system.

I used to bite my nails horribly. I don’t any more. Just because you are powerless to control your behavior doesn’t mean everyone is

Black, Hispanic and Asian cops don't treat blacks males any differently than white cops.

I'm pretty sure they've back tracked on the 95,000 estimate.

The last I heard they were basically saying "oh yeah we can't prove it because the numbers are based on old or unreliable records."

But don't take my word for it.

https://www.aclu.org/blog/voting-rights/fighting-voter-suppression/trump-says-58000-texans-voted-illegally-heres-what

Oh and this.

https://www.texastribune.org/2019/01/29/texas-voter-citizenship-list-problems-state-tells-counties/

I'm not a voter ID type of person, I think ya'll are crazy for wanting to build a "papers please" type of environment, but I'd sure laugh my ass off after conservatives lost an election when ID was required. What's the next line of excuses and falsehoods?

You need an ID to see a movie. Why wouldn’t you need one to affect the results of a national election?

In the aclu post

“The culprit? A software glitch at the DMV that inadvertently registered individuals who had identified themselves as noncitizens.“

A software glitch my ass. Just like they “found” an extra box of ballots in Broward county. I hope they keep a close eye on them during the next election. With 22 million illegals in the country if you don’t think they’re voting you’re on fucking crack.

No, you need an ID to see certain movies with a rating that requires an ID. Every other movie is free and open.

If you want to get upset over PA voting, take a look at the disproportionate amount of Dems to Rep, then take a look at how the representation is laid out. The state is gerrymandered to the point of no return. That said, it seems like that voter registration issue was recognized and corrected.

PA is just a shit hole, imo.

The taxes are fucking high and all the land has been bought out.

It's not a good place to buy large tracts of land, but you can get some good rental properties.

Lol wut. People get carded for movies? I’ve literally never seen that happen ever.

Seeing a movie isn’t a right. What problem exactly does requiring an ID for voting solve? The only thing it would prevent is people voting in someone else’s name. This is a type of voter fraud that never happens becasue it is absolutely the worst way to cheat in an election. Meanwhile we got people destroying absentee ballots and swinging elections in NC and nobody seems to give a shit.

I heard about that. We’ll have to wait and see what comes out in the investigation. Im sure there’s a lot more corruption happening than well ever know about.
