Guatemala has the highest child birth rate in the America's at just 24/1000 people, so you can wind the hysteria down a notch. It's not like countries are bursting at the seams.

Well said. And let's not forget how democrats supported the slated fence we have now. We need an upgrade, but Schumer is too salty at Trump to stick to his principles.

Further, Israel is a successful case study. Their Immigration wall worked and so did their west bank barrier wall.

If israel's wall is so effective, why do they have to build another one below it?  Is there gonna be another one below that?  Maybe we should let this "case study" run its course so we can have an idea of the final cost of a few miles of protection.

So increasing the effectiveness of a given wall automatically means the existing wall isn't effective at all?  No, that's not true.  It's not a black and white issue.

I'm getting sick of the absolutes made for the argument against border wall enforcement.

If the wall stops 75% of illegal entry, does it mean the wall isn't effective?  No.

If drones and border patrols are also used to enforce the border, does it mean the wall is ineffective?  No.

but what about the costs?  it wouldn't be very fiscally responsible to begin construction on a project for which we don't have a clue of the full scope of the work.  That's how boondoggles get started.

Bullshit. Israel’s wall has cost almost 2 billion dollars so far. And another 750 million just to retrofit the Gaza wall with anti tunnel technology which is only 30 miles

Has there ever been a government project that hasn't cost more than projected?  Does that mean there shouldn't be any government funded projects?  No.

of course not, but shouldn't we at least get an idea?  I mean, if we already know that it's gonna need at least 1 more wall underneath it, shouldn't we factor those costs in before we make any decisions?

What difference does it really make?  Even $25 billion is a drop in the bucket for Federal government finances.

The idea that building a wall is too expensive is ridiculous.
