questionable cake
    #25645694 -

Hey all,

I just birthed a cake and noticed that this cake had a different consitency than my other cakes and also had these yellow spots when I birthed it. Also looked kind of wet-ish (almost bordering on slimy) when I took it out of its jar. Here are some pics, should I toss it?

I wouldn't toss it.

It looks over-consolidated.  Did you colonize it in the dark?

From my understanding that slime is actually metabolites produced from the mycelium fighting bacteria. I think a few types of antibiotics are actually made from mycelium. Cool stuff. Definitely don’t toss it. I’ve had decent yields from cakes that look exactly like yours. Some people call it mycelium piss. That might help you if you try to search around for some additional advice. Good luck!

This was a liquid approaching the border of slime.
