I did not mean to offend. I assumed you were gay and I was only making a joke. I’m sorry for assuming your sexual preference.

LOL, no worries, I'm not offended here, I'm just messing around in here, I like to play in here. If you'll read my posts from way back to now (if you have 15 years) I'm very rarely excited. The problem with the net and forums is gestures, tone, and inflection along with other subtle nuances are lost in "conversation".:peace::mushroom2: Plus I REALLY wanted to explain it! It's titillating! (to me anyway, I can be a weird motherfucker)

Lol everyone is so afraid to offend. The ficked up part is that people offend me all the time, the difference is that when i get offended i just call people out rather than tattling and crying about it. I say, offend away. It sifts through the bittches.

from what I have READ(i wasnt there) the culture shifted from love of music to love of drugs (even though the drugs were always present) and thats what killed it. as in people started coming to the shows just to score drugs and not to enjoy the experience

I think this too, plus the age of that kind of scene seems to be 16-18 or 18-25 or 30ish and very few older than 40+ from what I saw. I got invited to a Tipper pre-party in a growhouse with acaterpillar a couple of years ago, I was the oldest guy there, lol. I still like parties and concerts/shows. I just don't have the energy as much to dance for too long anymore. Sometimes I think that some people might think I'm some older person trying to pick up young people, but I did get some people actually just talking and being friendly and not weird. I hope the shpongle show coming up is ravey.

I only really went to about 3-4 actual "raves" with flyers that gave a number that you called the night of, and you'd get directions to somewhere, but it was various warehouses in Dallas. One "after hours" party was a residence and the cops came in and harassed everyone until the renters showed some kind of licenses, I was holing L and speed and weed, was pretty scary, but the party was back on as soon as they left and I left at dawn. I actually scored there on L from a total stranger, it was maybe around92-94. Might have been my last one.

The music was definitely different in that it was evolving and very new. I wish I could get some of the soundtracks to that rave and club scene from late 80's to mid/late 90's. I remember a guy DJ Rob Vaughn, Club One, SOA's, Clearview, Daves Art and Pawn, Lizard Lounge, all of Deep Ellum mostly, was a very unique time for me and DFW in particular.

In terms of finding that older music, I’ve been astonished at what I’ve been able to find on YouTube or SoundCloud/mixcloud.  Tons of old tapes that were big in the rave scene have been converted to digital formats and uploaded.  Obviously there’s a lot of it lost to time, but you’d be surprised what you can find.  Just start searching the dj name + the name of the mix.  If you can’t find that particular mixtape, maybe you’ll find something real similar from the same dj.  There’s a lot online now.

Here’s a bunch of old mixes from DJ Rob Vaughn, from Dallas:  https://m.mixcloud.com/discover/dj-rob-vaughn/

I went to one around 93/94 but they were called warehouse parties in my area anyway. Illegal and underground the location was a secret until the last minute. MDMA was like 40 bucks a pill but LSD was less than 5 bucks a hit. The music was old school chicgo house and acid house.

The mid 90s i went to one that was more industrial music type thing with people walking around in leather gimp outfits.

The scene got more douchey as time went on and sort just became the cocaine  nightclub scene, there is some validity to the illegal underground ones being more fun than just seeing DJs in a club or an overpriced festival. Or maybe i just got old.

40? Damn... the absolute most expensive I found in the mid to late 90s was 20 and that was outrageous.

I went to a couple in the late 90s at the Ontario Science Centre. They would have some of the regular staff there running the exhibits. Maestro Fresh Wes was a performer at one.

An early 90s rave can't compete with a Dead show.
