I think yes there is something else. What?

I'm not religious I'm not atheist either I just don't know what there is. I used to believe there was nothing, you died and that was it and that may well be true but I'm now of the opinion that this isn't all there is. This reality isn't the end, I don't think it's the beginning either, there was something before and there's something after. This is just a small part of whatever it is.

This makes total sense, energy doesn't be destroyed, it changes but never disappears.

I say no, because I've been knocked unconscious (i.e. brain in lights out mode) and it was just dark, no dreams or nothing. Peaceful though when I woke up, I imagine death would be like that without the waking up part

My brother was in a bad car accident and described a near death experience in vivid detail.

Like a dream that seems to last hours when you were asleep on a plane for only minutes, yes, I think a single thought could *virtually* last forever.  Stark differentiation to literally lasting forever.

Yeah I think something happens when you die but it’s not how you think it is.  Yeah, the laws of thermodynamics state that energy can neither be created nor destroyed.  That doesn’t mean life everlasting it just means that your energy gets dismantled by bacteria and worms....

Neither do you have to spend a second of your time researching the overwhelmong evidencde of people actually having Near Death Experiences right?

Overwhelming evidence that our reality is centered in our brain and during the death process we have mechanisms in place to cause massive hallucinations and such.  People have similar experiences as NDE's when they didn't even come close to dying, just because their brain freaked out enough to think they were and reacted the same.  It doesn't prove any of those experiences were anything more than hallucinations though.  Just like taking a fuckload of DMT or other strong psychoactive.

We would need to have someone's NDE's somehow manifest outside of their own reality for them to even begin to be any sign of a life after death or any of the other related topics.  As long as it stays purely in the realm of the subject going through it than it will forever just be hallucinations of a dying mind.

That was the qyuestion. If you define death as the combination of cardiac arrest and whats formally considered brain death, apparently yes, some people appear to do so.

Well to be fair what medical science considers the point of brain death isn't the mark we know people fully die.  We know cells go on existing for minutes, hours and even days throughout the body as a whole. It takes a long time for every cell in the body to die.  I thought it was implied we were talking about things occuring after actual and full death, not just the medical line that's drawn for a baseline point for patient care and such.

Thats a matter of definition.

Personally I believe consciousness of an organism starts at the DNA level, which is the first step of manifestation, the being.

So as long as you have one living cell you are not dead, which is one reason why I rather not donate an organ and insist on cremation.

That's a poor assumption. I've read many and even had my own. I've done the drugs, I've studied religion, i love ghost hunting.  The thing is...it's not real.

There's this quote from the Pellar in Witcher 3 that comes to mind. He says, "The omens need not your faith to be true, it is you who need the omens to lead you to truth." There is a lot of truth to that, and a fair amount of relevance all the same. I think we all have our own experiece, a lifetime a book impossibly read. That's why it's so difficult to fully explain to someone how you know something.. you can't possibly know. I however have had too much "omen" in my life. Taps on the glass from the outside. There is an outside. That is all I claim to truly know.

I voted no.

There is zero good evidence to support an afterlife.

It also just seems to be more of Man's limitless arrogance that we think we deserve to go on forever.

I certainly hope it all ends when we die, no do-overs please.

I am actually quite amazed that so many people who take psychedelic mushrooms can state with such certainty that our soul dies with the body.

I've had some amazing trips where it felt like I was living out past lives as completely different people.
Or maybe it was just experiencing someone elses life like that movie 'being john malkovich'.

I've also had trips where it felt like the mushrooms were laughing at the immature human fear of death, and them proceeding to explain that fear of 'death' is an ego-centric human emotion that is meaningless
and amusing to higher intelligences. This sort of blended in with the cliche 'all is one and time doesn't exist' lesson.

The truth is I don't know but I'm leaning towards this life being a computer game of some sort.

I’m not saying the soul dies with the body.  I’m saying you never tucking had one to begin with.

Meat and blood and bones to stand it all upright.  If you think you’re more special than any other animal or bug, it’s just your own dumb brain thinking about itself.

I've had some amazing trips where I buried myself in the forest duff save for my head and arms and felt like I was becoming the forest.  I was also on drugs, because drugs.

It's a synthetic Serotonin, it's going to give you the feels.

As for a soul dying, impossible.  It has to exist first.  There is zero evidence for that.

I don't think you experience anything after full biological death where all cells in your body have died. But after legal death while your brain is still alive, sure.

In another way you can sort of live on in people who remember you. But it's them having that experience, not you.

First off, who said animals don't have souls?
An secondly why are you so angry? We are just trying to have a discussion with differing opinions, there is no need to resort to name calling, it makes your argument look weak and people less likely to take what you say seriously.
For your information I am not 'dumb', I was educated in one of the best universities in the world and I have travelled the world living in 4 different continents.
Anyway peace bro, I hope you grow spiritually and achieve happiness.
