I kind of feel the same way as OP. I've found that the Shroomery has lost its magic recently and I've been on the fence about leaving too. If I do leave I will probably still go to the gatherings and chill with the rest of the people who don't post anymore.

The mods have free reign to say whatever they want and if you say something about it or disagree then you get banned. God forbid you have any fun around these parts. It's not fun when the rules are different for different people. It's like when the cops break the laws and abuse their power then turn around and arrest you for the most petty thing.

I now see why a lot of OG Shroomerites have left.

Hard disagree. You're the only mod I've had problems with around here from what I can tell. Koods just thinks I'm dumb.

Very few mods are willing to mod the Pub. It's looked on as the shittiest job by the staff. I know why too.

I wish Trendal were still active here.

Yes, me. I gave him a short ban from the Pub when he started a troll thread about me because of the observations I've made about how it is to live in America.

I don't care what he had to say about me, and I restored his thread to OTD at his request (and took a bunch of flack for it) but it's not a standard that's acceptable in the Pub. Starting a troll thread about an individual here is not OK, and if I let it go (and I did want to) it would have set a bad example.

There's maybe 10-15 openly gay active members posting regularly in the pub.
There's hundreds of straight active members doing the same.
I don't think the ratio of gay to straight people is very much different here than it is in any general American population, or other psychedelic forums.

It's possible your perception is different as straight men in the psychedelic community are generally more open to the concepts of homosexuality & bisexuality. "Shrooms turn you gay" is an endearing phrase of acceptance towards the gay community, and maybe even a phrase to describe one being curious about their sexuality after tripping (not just on shrooms). Not something to be taken literally unless you're new here.

It started off as calling the Shroomery a district of the psychedelic community. The castro was the first to come to mind for obvious reasons and I thought it would be kinda funny but clearly it didn't go over well.

Then it turned into an ill-received joke about Penis Envy mushrooms. I always forget that tone doesn't carry over text well. :sad:

All of that said, though, this is the most openly gay psychedelic community I'm aware of. Not saying it's a majority of the people; just saying I've never seen acceptance/openness on this level before. I'll gladly take the nickname though, but you're Commander Cutie from now on.

I have also noticed that there is a lot of homosexual men on this forum. My assumption regarding the matter is that, this is a very open friendly liberal forum so it attracts people of all sexual orientations. Don’t forget that there is also transsexual posters. I don’t like conservatives or republicans so I’m glad it has a liberal leaning vibe to the forum. A free forum open to all men. And women. And other sexual identities.
