As a Mod you should be taking complaints seriously or give up your position. Without a diverse group of users the boards will become stagnant and boring. I am a professional person and I think the mods should act in a professional manner at all times or they should give up their mod tag. Troublemakers always claim their punishment was unfair, unjust, censorship, favoritism, etc.  Troublemakers when decently liked by others tend to form little social circles where it becomes the hip and fun thing to target whatever mod it was that laid the smack down.  Heavy bias starts to form where any and all action by said moderator suddenly seems OMGTHEWOORRSTEVARRR and is supppeerr unfaair! 

If you want free speech for all, go post in OTD.  That's the closest you're going to get.  The pube was made specifically because so many people were thin skinned and couldn't actually handle real free speech when it slurred them in the face. Thus the grateful dead loving pub was born and for a long time in the beginning it was far more nazi with its enforcement than it is now.  In fact, I was telling the OTD'ers just a month or two ago how funny I find it that the pub has turned into what OTD used to be, the big bad terrible OTD! 

As for the narrow view. It's because you are not a mod.  You don't know what we see and don't understand the systems in place.  Punishment is on an increasing scale. The first time its a slap on the wrist, the second time it's a ban for a few days, then more, then more until finally you end up in perma land.  You have 2 entries and they follow a perfectly logical and accurate pathway.  You got a warning and then you got a 3 day temp ban the next day.  If you feel it was unjust then you should use the appropriate forum to complain about it and the admins will look at it.  If it is legitimate Ythan or another admin will remove the ban.  However 95% of the time the user in question was indeed at fault and is just throwing a fit because no one likes being on the receiving end of a degrading internet punishment.

Mods take every complaint seriously.  If you catch a warning/ban it's a fairly high chance someone blew the whistle on your post and you just don't know it because it would be unprofessional to tell you someone did and who it was.
