Has anybody ever taken DMT anally?

I'm about to swap a couple ounces of mushrooms for a couple of grams of DMT. I've had DMT before but not for years. I've only ever smoked it.

I would like a longer DMT trip but I don't like the effects of MAOI's. When I say this I'm referring solely to Syrian Rue because that's the only one I've had. But I don't like how they have an effect on the experience and bring their own flavour.

I mixed mushrooms and Syrian Rue a few weeks ago and it just felt sinister and unpleasant. If I could extent a normal mushroom trip without changing the feel of the trip I'd love that...but I doubt I'll be doing psilohuasca again.

Anyway I've read that you can squirt DMT solution up your ring and that you are able to trip without the inclusion of an MAOI because it doesn't (mainly) get introduced to MAO and metabolised and therefore passes the blood-brain barrier. I read you need to use a slightly higher dose as it does meet a little MAO but not much.

Has anybody tried this method and is it good? Timeline? How much DMT would I use?

This is a subject that interests me a lot, being a diehard fan of sticking drugs up my ass.

I've heard of this method too, although I can't find much evidence that it actually works.

The principle is that, since MAO breaks down DMT in the bloodstream, we either need to inhibit MAO, or get the DMT into our bloodstream so rapidly that we have a short trip before MAO oxidises the DMT... Right?

Vaporizing it or intravenously injecting it gets it into the bloodstream so quickly that we have some time to trip before the MAO gets to it, however oral, IM, or SC routes are probably too slow to allow us to feel anything, because MAO will deal with the DMT as soon as it is absorbed, as it is happening so slowly.

That said, I'd imagine that if one were to eat 1kg of DMT, one would feel something.

Anyhow, the rectal route should work with DMT for two reasons:
1) It bypasses first-pass metabolism, so we have one pass where the drug will be completely un-metabolized
2) Rectal administration is faster than oral administration, the only route that beats it is intravenous

So taking both of these factors into account, there is no reason why it shouldn't work.

But the details seem to be somewhat lacking.

DMT base is mostly insoluble in water, and quite soluble in non-polar solvents, such as naphtha and xylene, and in oils.
DMT salts, however, are freely soluble in water.

So you have two choices:
1) Dissolve DMT base in oil, and squirt that up your ass (sounds uncomfortable, and lipid-soluble substances are not rapidly absorbed)
2) Convert your DMT to salt form, dissolve it in water, and plug that

I would go with option 2, however I have heard of people dissolving the base in oil and going with that method, not really sure why though, I don't see any benefits.

So if I were you, I would make a salt of DMT, the easiest way would be to decide on your dosage, say 100mg, add your 100mg of DMT to a small quantity of water, say 20mL, and then add as little acid (for example citric or hydrochloric) until the DMT fully dissolves.

IMO, there is no need to measure pH or calculate anything, all you need is enough acid to dissolve the base (by converting it into the salt form), and no more.

Of course, measuring the pH might be helpful to ensure that you have not accidentally added too much acid.
Don't wanna squirt concentrated hydrochloric acid up there!

As for the dosage, that seems to be quite unclear.
I'd say go with 100mg, but if you have plenty of DMT and it doesn't matter if you waste some, then maybe start with 50mg and if nothing happens, then it doesn't matter too much.

Hey man thanks that was a really detailed reply and I appreciate it!

You're saying adding citric acid to it would turn it into a salt so it could be absorbed? Is that correct?

I think I'd definitely go for 100mg because I doubt 50mg anally would do very much!

I'm also interested in pharmaceutical MAOI's as I don't think they'd change the flavour of the DMT trip.

Over at the DMT-Nexus, iirc, they also said MAO-A needs to be inhibited in the rectum too, but i'm not sure.

You should definitely go for oral DMT though. I use Rue and i love Rue, sure it can be rough, but if you stick to 2 to 3 grams of Rue and you add 4 grams of dried Lemon Balm leaf tea to the Rue it cleans it up real nice, and it smooths out the intense DMT come up.

Alternatively, you can use Moclobemide, a pharmaceutical reversible MAO-A inhibitor which only inhibits MAO-A and doesn't have any other effects like Harmalas/Rue/Caapi does, i'll send you the link where you can buy it through PM. You could also try out freebased Rue or Harmala extracts which feel much clearer/cleaner compared to Rue seed.

If you're serious about DMT, you're going to have to experiment around a bit, you're going to have some uncomfortable experiences, some challenges, some difficulties, and if using Harmalas/Rue/Caapi some nausea and vomiting, but it's all well worth it ime. Aya is my favorite Entheogen/Psychedelic, oral DMT by far blows Psilocin/mushrooms/4-ACO-DMT, and even LSD, out of the water.

Also, i rather enjoy being able to flavor/alter the DMT/Harmala experience, or even mushrooms, by the addition of different admixture plants, it's amazing experimentation which i highly suggest to other psychonauts, there's so many possible variations of the experience/medicine that we can tweak things more to our liking, and perhaps reduce some of the more undesirable effects. It's worth checking out, there's many different plants/oils/supplements out there that can have some interesting effects/additions when combined with a Psychedelic, imo.

Yes I know I'm in for the experimenting and rough times as well as good and it both unnerves me as well as excites me. I can handle pretty intense mushroom trips at 6 grams but I know DMT will be more intense.

I always have an antipsychotic at the ready in case I can't handle it but I've never had to use it because the trip was too much to handle.

I think I'll take to DMT very well. I just want my trip to last longer than a ten minute smoked experience! Plus I've quit smoking absolutely anything.

I've only ever smoked it. But I've definitely taken it anally a couple times. DMT had it's way with my cheeks real good. Poor cheeks

You're welcome.

Yes, any acid will convert non-water-soluble DMT base to a water-soluble salt of the acid you used.

If you use sulfuric acid or nitric acid, they have to be dilute of they might form sulphonic or nitro derivatives, or just break down the DMT altogether.

But most other acids, even hydrochloric, should be compatible with DMT at any concentration.

I think DMT would overpower any other substances taken at the same time, so yeah, it should be fine.
I'd avoid pharmaceutical crap if I were you, but that's just a quirk of mine.

Naw I'm just fuckin around. DMT has been, dare I say, somewhat gentle on me, we get along pretty well. I still shit bricks before I begin my sessions though. Respect is key when dealing with DMT
