Masculinity is more than okay, it is great, and empowering to the male individual

Toxic masculinity is toxic, empowers no one, but degrades the female individual
masculinity is not inherently toxic, but toxic masculinity infects otherwise benign circumstances

Toxicity is the parasitic issue, and by its nature it spreads in a manner where the majority of individuals attempting to be masculine may accidentally be slightly toxic,
rather than there being readily visible toxic individuals



this issue shows up in an entirely different context in gaming communities
League of Legends and Overwatch notoriously have toxic communities
and study tends to show that the average 'toxic individual' is just someone who periodically has shitty days without adequate coping mechanisms

bringing this back to masculinity; masculinity develops coping mechanisms for the male individual
those that have occasions of being toxically masculine are actually insufficiently masculine to deal with their issues

toxic masculinity is in the angry beta boy who whines that being friendly to women does not automatically grant him sex
