Adrenal Fatigue
    #19476492 -

Just wondering if anyone has used shrooms while having adrenal fatigue, or are there any significant reasons not to?

My Dr. is pretty certain I am in adrenal fatigue. I have been taking supplements. I have eaten mushrooms during this time and I seem to be okay.

that's encouraging savage. when I look at a lot of the factors that can lead a person into adrenal fatigue, to me, emerging out of it is a semi spiritual thing. i'm quite keen to come back to exploring with shrooms but obviously don't want to make any choices that abate my healing.

out of interest, what are you supplementing ?

One of the supplements is called Drenamin, by Standard Process. It contains
Vitamin C 9 mg
Riboflavin 1 mg
Niacin 12 mg
Vitamin B6 0.3 mg
(per capsule)

I also take 5,000 IU of Vitamin D daily (but I would do that without the adrenal fatigue, we get very little sunlight this time of year. Vitamin D levels are one of the first things they check in inpatient psychiatric care here because severe deficiency is so common.) I was taking B vitamins as well BUT ran out and haven't replaced them. I am not the greatest at taking supplements or medications consistently.

I would say coming out of it is a semi spiritual thing, for sure. I think it just takes time, like anything else. Gotta take care of mind, body, and spirit. Hope you feel better soon.

id reccomend not if you really think you are in adrenal fatigue, its usually accompanied with a stressed out mind state and mushrooms might toss your mind in the wrong direction your looking for

just my 2c

i get where you're coming from gresh. I left my job over a year ago after being in that stressed out mind place. was doing quite well until pressing the gas a bit too hard over the summer when traveling. my mind is probably clearer than its been in a long time, i guess i'm just suffering more physically right now.

either way i think a little more time is needed before picking back up where i left off with the mystery

speaking of supplements, OP ive recently found alot of energy from high doses of B1, 300mgs in the morning and afternoon. its cheap and worth a try. B's work best together too so a b-100 complex would compliment it nicely. theres an analogue of B1 called Sulbutiamine that crosses the brain blood barrier and has been found to be a terrific energy booster for people with CFS and its related problems (like adrenal fatigue), but i personally stick with regular B1 cause its natural and works for me

to the poster i quotes, the doses in that supplement are miniscule and unlikely to have any therapeutic value whatsoever. some people on antioxident stacks take literally a hundred times that ammount of vitamin C in a day (9 grams).

I was taking six a day, because as you stated those are indeed small amounts. It was annoying. Also it contains bovine bits and juices, "adrenal extract" and bone among others. I was given two bottles, consumed one bottle and I didn't really start feeling better until I got a new job. Better hours, better boss, less days working = more time for homework, hobbies, SLEEP etc. That's really what made the difference.

interesting, i read alot about supplements almost obcessively and thats a neat little tidbit, maybe the active componants were indeed the bovine bits n juices and the added low dose vitamins were merely a helpful addition for say, absorbtion?

dont mean to derail the op, honestly i couldnt possibly know for sure if you should trip or not. everyone has their maladys and still can handle a trip, i just know that i can't

I am well aware nobody is sure it's even "a real thing." The reason she thought "adrenal fatigue" were the things I had gone through leading up to my appointment with her; 2 family members dying months apart, both of whom I was helping to care for. She seemed to think I had not yet recovered from the stress overload. At the time of the visit though, I was a full time student working two jobs. Sure, I didn't have time to sleep BUT I was so stressed that even when I found time to sleep I COULDN'T. I couldn't sleep more than a couple hours before waking up in a panic about where I was supposed to be TODAY. I was literally falling asleep standing up at work, dozing off in class, etc. So yeah, when I went in what I wanted was to be able to sleep. As you know, you cannot walk out of a Dr.'s office without receiving some kind of "diagnosis" and "prescription". If a western Dr. doesn't do that much for you, they haven't done their job then, have they? I originally went in to ask for some kind of low-dose benzo I could use PRN for anxiety and a sleep aid. 5 mg tabs of Diazepam would've been perfect; I don't take pills very often and have never had an addiction to benzos or opiates or anything. I was not "drug-seeking" for recreational purposes or to feed an addiction but maybe the Dr. thought that I was. I walked out with vitamins. :shrugs: I felt shitty enough to give it a try.

It's not a "crazy theory" to say that my inability to sleep was why I felt like shit; that's why I went to the Dr. in the first place.

No. I am not getting OVER 5000 IU vitamin D per day. The dose is 5000 IU but as I did previously state, (didn't I?) I suck at taking supplements and prescriptions. They sit in a place where I'm supposed to remember to take them every morning, but I don't. I take them, but not daily. The only medications I have ever taken diligently as they were prescribed in my life were OCs and antibiotics. My D levels have always been within normal limits (except when they were low) when having labs drawn and I do not show signs and symptoms of hypercalcemia. I also play full contact sports, snowboard, and am generally a clutz so if I was taking in so much D that calcium was being pulled from my bones, I probably would've broken something by now. In fact I'm surprised I haven't broken anything regardless of my vitamin D intake. I supplement during the winter months because I live above 40 degrees latitude which means that even if the sun does come out we still cannot synthesize vitamin D this time of year. Severe Vitamin D deficiency is extremely common here, where as toxicity is not, but you are correct, the only real way to achieve Vitamin D toxicity is through supplementation.

You are also right that supplements for adrenal fatigue contain hormones. That's what adrenal glands do, secrete hormones.  Adrenaline is a hormone, be it bovine or human.

I do not have a lot of faith in the Drs in my area, at least the ones in the only medical facility my health insurance covers. My reasons for this come from many years of being jerked around in trying to seek relief from chronic symptoms that have nothing to do with adrenal fatigue, which I will not get into here. I will say I have to be feeling pretty rough to make an appointment with a physician, and every time I leave their office I feel like I've wasted my time and money. So, no, you are not antagonistically poking fun at my health religion, because I have no health religion (or any religion, for that matter) and I take no offense. You didn't, and still don't have all knowledge of my health history, symptoms, or level of compliance with prescribed therapies so your concerns with the information you had were warranted. If you say you're "working on" not giving people your piece about their "bogus health beliefs" it would stand to reason you've upset a few people by doing this? If that's the case it may not be the information or opinions you deliver, but the tone used to voice those opinions. Just a thought.

But anyways, it is true that in my case lifestyle modifications were indicated, whether my "sickness" actually had/has a legitimate name or not.

Sorry for hijacking your thread here, OP. I feel bad about it.

I just did a quick look up because your ingredient list seemed lacking for an adrenal support supplement and found that Drenamin contains bovine adrenal tissue and extracts as well as pig brains!

You only listed the super cheap ass B and C vitamin ingredients, not the proprietary blend:

Proprietary Blend:730 mg
Calcium lactate, defatted wheat (germ), bovine liver, bovine adrenal, porcine stomach, nutritional yeast, bovine adrenal PMG™ extract, choline bitartrate, alfalfa extract, dried buckwheat (leaf) juice, buckwheat (seed), magnesium citrate, oat flour, mushroom(lol, what kind?), bovine bone, para-aminobenzoate, allantoin, porcine brain, veal bone, carrot (root), soybean lecithin, rice (bran), and mixed tocopherols (soy).

I'm in the same boat. Was curious if you ended up eating mushrooms while experiencing adrenal fatigue. If so, how did it go? Did it delay the healing process at all?

Anyone with adrenal fatigue needs to keep in mind that psilocybin cubensis acts on your CNS system and is a stimulant on its own. Often the mushrooms make your palms sweaty and you have a stimulated type of affect from consuming them.
