Anxiety, adrenaline and sleeplessness after working out?

On my quest to get healthy I deciced to purchase and begin riding a bicycle. My first time out I rode a little over an hour. My heart was pounding but I felt great afterwards. That night as soon as I laid down my heart began to pound and I had this strange feeling all over my body, it felt like a adrenaline rush. I finally fell asleep and got maybe 4 hours of sleep.
The next night the heart pounding wasnt as bad but the adrenaline feeling was worse. I didnt sleep at all and I had to work the next day. I finally fell asleep after my 14 hour shift and slept 12 hours.
Did I overwork my heart? Why would overworking it cause anxiety and adrenaline?

are you used to working out, or is this new to you? what kind of shape are you in now? any drastic change to your diet / excersize schedule will be rough at first, but a steady pace and consistancy is vital.

Stop worrying about your heart. Over the short term, exercise won't alter your response to stressful situations, a stressful situation could be laying/sitting down worrying about adrenaline.
If your worried just go to the emergency deparment of your local hospital and let them run an ECG, and then you can put the concerns to rest.

Because people with anxiety worry about they're hearts instinctively because it's the most prominant symptom, and when you reach a certain level of physical activity your heart rate becomes perceptable so there's an additive release of adrenal hormones.
Don't worry, it's nothing.

I'm not worried about my heart because I already had an ECG three weeks ago, everything is fine. I just don't understand why I laid awake a night and couldnt sleep. I only started getting anxious about it because I couldnt sleep and it was upsetting me. I went 2 days with only 4 hours without sleep, 20 of those hours I was working. It concerned me because I've never had such a wierd reaction to excerise. I'm over it now and I will take a much slower pace next time I ride.

I think you're supposed to give yourself 3 hours after working out before you go to sleep.
