Gymnopilus liquiritiae

Habitat:
Wood chips, clustered.

Gills:
Bright rusty golden

Stem: yellowish white (similar to cap) bulbus base when young.


Cap:
Up to 3 in in diamiater golden to white caramel

Spore print color:
rusty brown

Bruising:
Some bluing in base of stem and cap

Other information: identical match to mushroomexpert.com discription of liquiritiae. However the lutes I hear are more common. Don’t usually look for gyms, just noticed the bluing and thought I’d check it out.

Sounds like a definite maybe.  Hard to tell without pics.  Here's our official Gymnopilus thread.  I'm sure you can find some liquiritiae in there to compare it to.

When picked fresh, me and a partner decided these mushrooms had 100% identical markers as this description.

That top cap in the pic. doesn’t look right, but but I’m just thinking it’s because it’s sun dried.

Maybe a mixed collection of Inocybe calamistrata and maybe the smooth capped ones are Galerina marginata?

Thank you sir, the potential for galerina marginita was my number one concern. Quite why we always stay away from rusty spored lbm’s all together.
