got a load of jars going, thanks to a donated print from a freind in a galaxy far, far away. thanks again man!
posting a coupla close up pics of the mycelium - seems a lot more delicate than the EQ's i grew last time. kinda more transclucent - wondering when it will have colonised the whole thing. how can u tell?
used WBS insteada of rye & i can say i'm pretty impressed with the results - ratios were pf tek - just substituted the brf. the consistency ensures rapid colonisation compared to the unholy fidgity mess that is rye - oh! & it's cheaper as well!

just thinking about it - the reason they're more translucent is prob because of the grain size being larger than brf. so you actually see the mycelium growing around it more.
ok! i took my fully colonised jars (waited for 4-5 days after the outer surface was fully covered) & mixed 2 to a spawn bag each. the ration is:
1 litre of colonised substrate (WBS/verm) to 5.25 litres of uncolonised spawn. this is divided over two bags - so that would =
0.5 : 2.63 litres
is this an ok ratio? - i'm starting to feel worried. the bags looked pretty well colonised on the outside but i then shook 'em to redistribute the grain & water that was collecting to the sides. then it became apparant how much grain there was! could hardly see any white at all. what do you guys think?

additionally, is shaking the bags a good idea? i thought it was as it aerates everything & as i mentioned b4 - redistrubtes the water.
the other question i had was if it all goes ok - do u think i will be ok doing a bag culture? ie - cutting the sides to let the shrooms sprout out of there? or is that only doable with straw type substrates?

whew! i was real worried that i had permanently thwarted my celiums quest to explore new kernals that no rhizomorph had been to before - but a quick peek shows that it's pretty well re-established - almost to the level of the pics i posted before - i just have to fear possible contam now - this cultivators days are filled with forboding & eating disorders.

Keep shaking and making sure the whole thing gets colonized, well, at least thats what I would do.
Wanna know what else I would do, I would crush the bag till it gets kinda loose and pour the colonized material in a sterile container (I'm guessing it's enough to thouroughly clean the container with h2o2) and pour some verm on top of the colonized material. That way you would get the most out of your project. And picking the mushrooms would be easier to, seeing as the mushrooms would then grow out of a flat surface. Just my thoughts... this is what I'm going to do on my next grow.

hmmm - i only shook it the once & that was enough - too much & you might damage the mycelium - thats what happened to my last load of cambodians.
anyway this was the container i decided to use:
i'm going to fill these with a bed of verm, top with an inch of substrate, then case with verm; or hopefully a 50/50 verm/coir mix, if i can manage to track down the coir.
then wrap in clingfilm & reincubate. One the celium starts coming up through the substrate - will cold shock & move to fruiting chamber.

after coldshocking i was a bit worried about some of my trays as they were to close to the ice cube unit & i believe they were frozen partially. i cracked the top layer of 'skin & cased in steril verm 
however all waent well & pins began to form!
