no, Scalia has reasonable authority because he's dealt with the actual case itself, and was the judge in that case. hence his opinion is valid to debate. you ignored it for the sake of the easy route of poisoning the well.

As long as you have a proper license of course but Stephen Paddock did not have a gun store.  In fact I think gun stores are the last line of defense as far as keeping high-powered weapons that aren't for defense or hunting out of citizens hands.  Also I think shooting ranges being more readily available would help quite a bit.  The Thing that scares me the most is auction sites and gun shows because that is the lack market just sanctioned. You still have some restrictions but I think it's too easy to get guns online and at gun shows.

it would cost you a fortune in gun safes, for one thing.  Each additional gun is one more that could get stolen, or accessed by a clever kid, for another.  I don't think it is worth arguing that guns aren't dangerous when they clearly are.  Lots of things are dangerous and impractical.  Ferraris, snow skis, sky diving, many others.

I no longer understand the point of this debate. Gun laws will not be implemented in any shape or form, and if anything, restrictions will be loosened. That's what's happened for the last two decades, and it won't stop now.

Personally, I agree with a post I saw back on the front page of this topic. "It's just the cost of freedom". Another person mentioned gun deaths, ~30k/yr total, ~10k murder, ~20k suicide. That there is the cost of doing business. Get used to it. It's part of the fine print for being a US citizen. In France, people just assume you have a baguette and a cigarette, in Spain, we assume you're about to have a civil war, and in the US you may be randomly shot by a spree shooter any day. If you don't like the idea of randomly being shot by some gun nut, then move to a different country. Too poor? Sucks.

EDIT: Heh. You call them "Mass Killings"? I call them "Freedom Rounds".
