c10's agar LME, is this the right LME?

I probably should have checked here before buying this but in c10's agar guide ( https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/24336286#24336286 ) he says "LME" which I knew was light malt extract so in my excitement I bought the first thing online that said that and have since been reading I need dextrose, not just LME. Also, potato dextrose is better? Anyway, here's what I got, let me know if I can use this or if I need something else. Thanks peers

Should be good I belive it's an either or thing. Most people don't feel the need for several types of sugar in their agar dishes or lc.

Some people just use grain water or water from boiling a potato I've tried both, potato broth worked better of the two for growing mycelium, in my limited experience .

I tried using a teaspoon of molasses on my last batch of agar... jury is out BTW. It may be a fail.

MEA requires only malt extract. Malt has dextrose and a bunch of other sugars and nutrients in it already.

There's no such thing as potato dextrose. There's pda which is potato water + dextrose

So I'm good with what I have? Sorry, I meant potato dextrose agar, the title of a thread talking about the potato water + dextrose. Since it has sugars should I bother with karo?

Man, taking the step from pastywhyte's agar tek to other recipes is confusing. I'm going to use 10g agar to 7g of the organic light dried malt extract with 500ml water. Is that right? Idk why I always question myself, that looks right.

Lol what's confusing about it? Just follow the recipe. If you aren't making PDA then you don't need any part of Pasty's tek other than the containers.

What's confusing is there's not as much on MEA as other recipes and the ones I can find are all different. I've decided to do what you said and follow a recipe, the recipe I've decided to follow is https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/23890579 which is 10g agar, 10g mea, and 500ml water.

10g agar & 10g LME is the industry gold standard.  Very very common.

I'll chime in here...standard recipes use 2% nutes (malt extract, potato flakes, dog food, etc) and depending on the brand of agar, 2% is pretty standard as well though I'm currently using telephone co agar and have got it down to 1.25% and it's just about the consistency I'm looking for.
