if someone had a 1/2 pint jar of karo with a good amount of mycleial growth but only like 25 mls of fluid left, could that someone inject the jar w a water/karo mix if so how would you steralize this mix? in a syringe in the pc? microwave? i know that this person could make up another karo jar no problem, but his last two fell victims to contam, so he was hoping to "expand" this one.

I just tried adding a little h202 and some fresh honey-water to a mycelium mix... It's a 1st time experiment for me, so I'm waiting to see how it goes.

I would make another karo jar and do 1 of 2 things innoculate that jar (or you can make ten jars and innoculate all of them) or take the sterile karo out of the jar with a sterile syringe and inject it
but I think make alot of other jars and innoculating them with the remaning karo (mycilium culture) would be your best bet you could theraletically make 20 new karo jars with that little bit you got left and if some fail fuck it but you allready have mycilium so the growth rate will be fannominal (sp?)

A guy that I know injects his karo jars every time with a new mix of karo from a syringe that he has sterilized via boiling . He has not had any problems yet and it keeps the culture healthy and growing .

Update... the jar I mentioned earlier in the thread is growing new myc like crazy...
Also a little myc floating 'round which I think may have been fried by the h2o2... dunno if this would represent a contam risk or not (but it's sterile, even if it's dead...)

as I understand it (please keep in mind here that I'm a newbie grower and my info comes from what I've read here...), h2o2 kills the outer layer of the mycelium cells (feel free to explain that better, anyone who can...)
After I added the h202 with honey water, the exisiting myc just sorta hung there (with a few bubbles attached) it looked sorta 'lank' and certainly didn't grow.
That white matter (which was alive and growing before h202) is still floating around, doing nothing at all. (looks like cum blobs in a warm bath)
A new mycelium growth has started (from the bottom of the jar... it is everything the pics tell you myc should be (it WAS myc in there before too... 5 mins before adding h202, I used it to innoculate some popcorn which is booting along now).
This is growing at a far better rate than the 1st myc growth (also more nutrients this time around).
