My wife took me to bow target practice, fun stuff.  I work with some bow hunters.  They act a little elitist over rifle hunters, haha.

Not really. It's has refined gears and 2 pulley strings. It's just got extra rubber shit. And all Bows like 2010+ are equal. I shoot a 2001 PSE. Works great, rests are the important part. :thumbup:

Whats complicated? I see a frame, pulleys, and a string. Just the frame looks over complicated o pic one, rest is attatchments.

To be honest from what I understand for war or military campagins you wouldn't want one of these compound bows compared to a long bow or traditional composite bow. More gears + more strings = more shit that can break = more likelihood that shit will break = longer repair times = useless archery line

Are you shitting me that looks confusing as fuck. I mean I have some archery experience from my youth. But this looks confusing as all hell to someone unfamiliar.

The whole curvature and shape is like wtf?, all the hooks and seemingly duplicates of everything... Idk I'm with pat on this

We could pull it apart into like 8 pieces. Easy as shit. Bows are easy to work on. One tool. Well 2 counting a bow press.

Its just a compound bow.
The pulleys give you added mechanical advange so you get a stronger draw with less required strength but a longer-distance draw.

I prefer using a recurve. Compound is handy but the design doesn't support the true technique of using a bow. The types of sights people set up on the things, plus the compound feature can almost teach you to relax in a way that is detrimental. Sure it gives you time to aim, but snap shooting is essential for using a bow in the first place. Truly taking that kind of time to aim doesn't teach you to really use it. Your forward arm can also relax in that grace period, I mean that's kinda the whole point in using a compound bow, to allow you to relax, and your forward arm is more important to be rigid than it is to even be drawing the damn thing.

I had one when i was a kid, they are cool, they even have a little scope thing. its a real skill to learn, i never was that good but i saw some guys who would split fucking arrows on the bulleye all day.

A bow typically has a draw weight on it,
it refers to the equivalent of how much weight would be lifted to draw the string,
it is typically dictated by the size and material of the bow.

A 70 lb draw takes a stronger person to fire,
than a 40 lb draw,
and the higher the draw weight, the farther and faster it will shoot an arrow.

You posted a Compound Bow,
the use of the pulley system means that a bow can be fired
at an equivalent velocity, while using less strength to draw



Maybe try archery some time, you may like it
personally find it quite relaxing, and that it aids focus
there is a sentiment in Japanese archery that it's not about hitting the target,
but about having a perfectly sort of Zen moment of clarity while firing,
which guides the arrow to the target itself.

But just shoot a traditional bow at hay-bale targets out behind the house
keep meaning to go out when hunting season rolls around,
though typically feel pretty lousy at that time of the year.

The rubber i believe is for shock absorbing.

I shot a bow last summer, my GFs brother owns one, so does his friend. Love shooting bows.

The cams these days make it super cheat-codes to shoot: the cams hold the tension without feeling too much of the tension itself. Makes it easier for holding the string back.

I wanna get one, even a $200 bow. But some of the shapes of bows these days are frickin weird :eek:

I have a yew selfbow that I shoot all the time.  There is nothing like shooting a traditional stick-and-string longbow with wood arrows/turkey feather fletches.  Compound bows are obviously going to produce better results, especially when hunting, but the extra challenge and skill required to shoot a longbow well is more rewarding to me.  When I hit the bullseye with a longbow I get excited, whereas when I hit the bullseye with a compound bow it's like "well yea, you're supposed to hit the bullseye with a compound bow" and it's not as enjoyable.  Of course, to each his own.  I know there are a lot of people who find compound bows more enjoyable than longbows, so there ya go.

I just got a compound bow.

The point is when you draw the bow all the way it will relax so you dont have to hold the tension while you aim. It makes it more accurate than a long bow or a recurve bow.
