GoverNator Kills the Homosexual Hope

I don't know what to think. people can do what they want to do...but i do not think that the legal marriage of homosexuals and lesbins is a proper idea.and should not be allowed...one you have same sex marriages...then you get "triads" (three people getting married) then who knows maybe human animal marriage....there are unusual people in world... :eyemouth:

I could really care less if the people want to allow homsexual marriage. Whatever happens happens. I think it should be a state's decision, but then you run into problems when they want to recognized for tax purposes, and I'm not really sure what the answer is there. I really haven't thought that deeply about it.

The problem I have is that this Mayor of San Diego and judges who have decided they'll do whatever they want regardless of the law.

I see nothing wrong with any of the forms of marriage you mention.  Would you mind telling us what's wrong with two consenting adult males getting married?  I don't see how it harms anyone else.

The government should recognise marriage and civil unions between two or more people the same as any other contract.

That's all marriage type arrangements should be as far as the government is concerned, business contracts.

Just for the record...i am not discriminatory against gays and lesbians it is just there are alot of other issues that come along with the their legal rights. But thankyou for responding to this post...that is what i wanted. And the truth is, there is not really a conclusion to this mess of ignorant and byast opions. (not that yours are)

Please be more specific. What other issues come along with their legal rights? Does it infringe upon others' legal rights?

I spoke of my views on another forum, so I'll add the veiws of someone else with whom I was discussing this issue.

He said that when you start blurring the lines, anything goes.

If you're going to allow marriage between people of the same sex, who want equality, what about the guy who wants to marry his dog, or other bizarre types of marriages.

He said the lines have to be drawn somewhere, and shouldn't be moved or society will start to fall apart.

Well, what about him? How is he hurting anyone? Of course, I'm not sure the dog would be able to give consent, so that might present a problem.

Here's my proposal:

You should be legally allowed to marry ANYONE as long as that person:

1. Is a legal adult(or has parental permission)

2. Can give informed consent

Only people should be allowed to marry. People can't marry dogs and claim them as a dependent, people can't mayr non-person entities, like a corporation.

Society's not going to fall apart over something as trivial as polygamy and gay marriage.

californians passed a ballot measure banning same sex
marriages in the state.

this is law, passed by a vote.

the san francisco judges are breaking the law.

I read a funny quote in the LA Times this morning....

Schwartzenator supposedly wrote a strong worded
note to Attorney General Bill Lockyer demanding that
he find resolution to this and stop the san francisco
marriages.

The spokesman for Lockyer's office said something to
the affect of:

Governor Schwartzenator cannot command the
AG to do anything. He can direct the highway patrol,
he can direct Terminator 4, but he cannot tell an
independantly elected AG what to do.

it was pretty funny...I thought.

This might be hard for you to undertsand, but in America, we don't do whatever sounds like the most cuddly lovable hug the world postion, we do this really stupid thing called "Voting", and hte people in CAlifornia voted to not let homosexuals marry, and thei are going directly against that. You want a "reason"? A vote, the MAJORITY of the people don't want it.

I realize, again, that this concept is far above the capacity of a great number of people to understand, libbies do love their thinking with emotions rather than logic and knowledge of the law
