Re: How many dimensions do we experience? [Re: lIllIIIllIlIIlIlIIllIllIIl]
    #23309504 -

in any ordinary moment we experience the residual thought echoes of earlier moments with the sensory feed of the now - which includes body feeling, sound, vision etc.

is that one dimension, or 3 dimensions plus mentation =4.

when we are stoned, each totality, I just described as 3+1,  while fading more slowly seems to persist and so impinges and overlaps into subsequent moments:

  • here is where the sense of dimension cascades tremendously and has the potential to seem endless.

When we experience more than 3 +1, it is very hard to accept that it is an artifact of mind layering upon mind - it is too true, if anything ever is true

We can't.  Reality is eternally, and utterly veiled from us.  Knowing reality without the coloring of perception would require perceiving it without perception - a logical contradiction.  What we can do is model our observations.  These models are as close to knowing reality as we will ever get.  (The fact that reality is ultimately unknowable is a good reason to doubt it's validity and worth.  Its really a worthless concept.)

It is simply a matter of geometry.

The photoreceptor cells in your retina are set up in a plane. Because the retina it is set up as a plane, the images you see are two dimensional. The images we see contain no information as to where things are in 3-d space. Instead we assume where things aught to be based on depth perception, image recognition and experience.

This is different than the nerve cells that allow you to feel things, since they are distributed all over your body in three dimensions (though they are most concentrated in the skin).

If you were to "see" in three dimensions you would see entire objects inside and out simultaneously.

Very old, but I like this.  We don't see in 3D, we see in 2D.  2D with depth perception is not 3D.  Seeing in 3D would mean seeing somebody's front side, back side and innards all at once laid out in front of you.

that would be a 4th dimensional take on the 3 dimensional world
like our viewing in 3 dimensions of a 2 dimensional photograph

This makes no sense and is contradictory. I have read you chucking these claims around before and am personally dont have the fortitude to argue over colours. I will have to agree to disagree.

So you don't understand it yet you understand that it's contradictory.. If you know what's wrong with the statement it'd be nice if you could say it.

It makes no sense because it is contradictory:facepalm3: to a point of ridiculousness that you aint gonna get .As i said i have seen people argue this point with you before quite eloquently and you steadfastly refuse to understand non contradictory statements.

What about the statement is contradictory?

It says there are two separate perceptions of a single dimension.
Quote:
Perception: the way in which something is regarded, understood, or interpreted.

One of the perceptions is imagination, otherwise known as implicit perceptions and the other perception is one of observing the explicit expectations of reality that we all experience such as gravity.

I'd like to know why I'm wrong, not just to hear you say I am.

People have explained why you're wrong, literally dozens of times that I've seen. Either you don't get it or won't. There's no point in explaining again

Saying someone is wrong is not explaining why they are wrong.

If you can share any examples you've seen that explain why the statement I've given is wrong or contradictory you've got an easy 5 shrooms.

People have, you don't understand them.

The basic idea that you have no evidence of an objective external world just does not seem to be able to register in your mind.

We could explain it a thousand times. It wouldn't matter.

Yet still you can't give a single example of why the statement is wrong out of the so called dozen you've seen. Way to blow your own horn.

Quote:

Right my bad, life's an imaginative fairy tale that we project from our brains and nothing is real because electricity, magnetism, gravity and the nuclear forces are all fabricated opinions.

The words we use to describe them are made up but what we are describing is not.

If that's too hard to understand then you're living in a world of ignorance.

Not only are you never going to get it, but I don't think you're ever even going to realise that there's something you don't get.

What you dont seem to understand is that we have all learnt those things that you hang your hat on( personally prob before you were born), qouting stats and the repetitive i can touch it so its real stance is something that most of the people you are arguing with have a full understanding of its so so so boring and to compound things IMO not quite right.

Re: How many dimensions do we experience? [Re: pineninja]

Evidently some people think there's a contradiction in this but no one seems to be able to point it out so I don't see how I can believe those people have a full understanding of the fundamental knowledge you're describing.

Quote:
We have 2 experiences of 1 dimension.

We live in a non-dual reality that is dichotomous.

Reality in an objective sense can be called non-dual.

However, with the existence of a subjective sense, reality can be in duality.

One subjective reality perceived individually within a person, one objective reality separate from the individual which has observable deterministic properties
