I won't lie, it's kind of difficult to get used to. I have a friend that I used to go rock climbing with who was a trans masculine genderqueer. I kept wanting to call them "she" because they had a female name and hung out with mostly women, and getting corrected. They were a really cool person though, very dapper and vocally friendly to me, personally. Didn't seem to hold my pronoun struggle against me at all. They actually invited me to the women's sauna. It was nice, but their female friend kept on checking out my junk. It was so awkward that I never went back

At a certain point it seems like all these labels become a egoistic venture to some people... so much concern about identity... does it reaaaaallly matter if you're a guy or a girl or what people call you or what you label yourself as? Just do what you want :lol:

I get referred to as female semi-frequently when approached from behind because of my long locks and it's never offended me 1/10th as much as my friend who went trans suddenly without saying anything to me  (but still looks strongly like their original gender) gets if you accidentally use a female pronoun..


I understand that many people give them shit, but being easily offended over ones identity is just as egotistical as being a self-obsessed asshole :lol: It's not a healthy trait. And I know I'm guilty too at times. But its good to keep in mind before we take ourselves so seriously as to perpetuate negativity when it finds us.

Hey, you're talking to the most binary trans person this side of the Mississippi. My gender identity is very simple and clear: female. I admire and respect nonbinary trans people though, they have to put up with even more bullshit. I can get away with using the women's room, but where are THEY supposed to pee?!

Anyway, it's worth mentioning again that they were not offended when I repeatedly misgendered them.

And I love to see when people are in good spirits about it; it shows understanding of peoples confusion over what's really a niche of vocabulary and ideas...

It's just difficult when I come across someone who seems to be fishing for opportunities to get offended.

It takes a ton of patience to keep on a pleasant face while hearing the same frightening myths and misconceptions over and over again, but it's a quality that I admire and am working to cultivate in myself.

:cool: Yeah I understand that feeling ... it can put you in a sort of 'warrior' mentality that both increases your perception of perceived threats and makes one react more strongly towards them. The town I grew up in had a very strong Aryan Nations movement (see: Nazis) and my family being Jewish... I definitely ended up residing in that mentality for awhile back in the day.
