I don't see the point in the Cuban Embargo at all. I mean for fucks sake Castro is not going anywhere any time soon. We could make a good close crazy ally. We trade with China and they are communists. What is the difference?

Agreed. Its totaly bullshit.

Maybe it is Castro who likes the current situation? He does get a lot of money from members of organized crime that got kicked out of the USA who stay in his country. He also gets a lot of money from the dealers taking refuge in his country. :shrug:

My grand father gets his hands on a box of cubans once in a blue moon. I haven't seen him with any in a very very long time but if I do I will try to get my hands on a few even if its just one or two and drop you a PM.

Edit: You should be able to find cubans in any major city in the USA if you really want them that bad.

Dude, cuban cigars aren't that good. After castro took over, they went to shit. Dominican cigars are just as fine as cubans used to be, especially if they use cuban tobacco. Close to the same environment.

i've had real cuban cigars. they're just real strong....that's all. i don't smoke cigars all the time, but when i do i'd rather have a mild one. cubans cigars are really not that great.

they should lift the embargo though.

the cuban embargo is now more of a political tool than
a legitimate international embargo.

there is an ENORMOUS contingency of anti-castro cubans
in florida that put a lot of weight behind the embargo
and against cuba.

really...casto is in his late 70s now and will not likely
make it through another decade.

my wife and I recently went to Cuba for our honeymoon,
smoked lots of cigars, drank lots of mojitos and cuba libres,
but we found that Cuba is dirt poor and you can sense that
while the people have been raised on all the anti-capitalist
american mojo, they realize that they are living to a much
lower standard than they could be otherwise.

It's a tough call...the issue is complex and neither side wants
to budge.

Honestly, if Castro were to pass and Cuba were to go quasi-
capitalist, I don't think it would bode well for the country. They
are a very communal people...I'm afraid that dumping them
out of the state's cradle could drive that country towards a
state similar to Jamaica...lots more crime and a LOT more
poverty.

The cigars are all right...the real cool ones to smoke are the
El Creditos...which are the state cigars that the cubanos smoke.

I was told they use the same tobacco as the Cohibas, but just
aren't finished as nicely so they aren't quite as *pretty* as the
R&J or Cohibas, but they are about .08$ a piece (american).

I brought back a dozen Siglo III and a dozen El Creditos.

I find myself occasionally with a hankering for cigars after that
trip.
