How come we didn't get to voice our opinions about who we wanted as a mod only to be ignored when they appoint Mammories? like the last time?  And how come you and OC didn't step up again and try to become mods like the last time?

From my observances, the community voicing its opinions is far from the norm, mods usually have in mind who they want to bring on as staff and it's discussed amongst the other mods before finally geo will ask them if they were interested....

I think PS&P moderating was a little bit dead at the time and nobody was quite sure who was interested and would take the job seriously and not burn out on it, so they reached out to the community for feedback.  That didn't go so well as it turned more into a vote, which geo never cared about, only to see who was interested and if there was any good reasoning to support that person.

I hear what you are saying and it would seem to make sense.  However there is and was a benefit to getting community input. You get to hear arguments about why certain members and attributes are valued by the community in moderation.  The trouble with the mods bringing in the mods would be the same problem with politicians electing other politicians.  If there is rot at the core it just gets perpetuated.

That's always been my 2 cents on this issues but my moderator opinions and views on what makes a proper moderator have always been a minority view. Having said that I feel that DQ can do the job.:thumbup:

I hear what you're saying,but it's also important for the mods that we all treat each other fondly in the moderator forum... It's not PS&P and we all are looking to resolve conflicts, not create them, so it's a mix of who can keep a shroomy vibe there and take on a more arduous job here.

Of course but I don't see how getting input from the community would adversely affect the moderators. It's not like you have a commitment to take their advice but rather just consider it when making choices. I would think that would be a help rather than a hindrance.

I don't disagree with you, I think whoever created the poll added more to conflict than what geokills intended...  He was looking for people's impressions and it was ultimately in the hands of the mods, whereas the poll gave the impression that a popular vote of the community decided things.  That may have been a big turn off into making it a tradition.  Just my hunch.

You've got to make mods out of people who don't like to lord it over others and to have power over them.

I think DQ is probably a good choice. He doesn't seem to make emotional commitments to ideas. It's always fun to see how people react to POWER though.

I treat you guys like you are a new person with every post,  I hold no grudges from poor behavior on other threads...  Some of the people you ignore treat you like a new person with every thread, often agree with you....

I just got another but I don't have it as a goal anymore. I actually wish some of them would take me off as I am often in agreement with them and would like to discuss shit with them.

Most of the rest are long gone from the shroomery as far as I know.
