Grain Spawn and Air....

Is it possible to incubate grain spawn in a container with a lid on top, like a rubber-cade container, or should it be covered with something more porous (towel)?

your grain is in another container right? like a jar or a bag i hope. i put a blanky on top of my jars/bags in the incubator but only to try and trap the heat to save electricity/keep them at a constant 84-86. your lid should be fine though, and its not air tight, which doesnt matter anyway.

At this stage, its not air as much as it is CO2 that is of importance. YOu need to have plenty of CO2 and a small amount of O2. When it comes time to fruit, then switch gears and give them more air, and less CO2. The lids are fine right now. :smile:bluhoney

you'll want to incubate in a filtered jar or bag and place them in an incubator, without the bag/jar you WILL get contams.
