incubation temp for p. cubensis
    #2261494 -

Fellow mycophiles, my buddy has come across some confusion as to what the proper temerature for incubation of mycelia would be. He read in his book (Psilocybin Prodcution) that room temp or about 70-75F was optimal and higher temps would speed growth but weaken it's defenses as well as lower the alkaloid content. He is doing this for the alkaloid content, and is not concerned with shaving a few days off in exchange for a less potent product. He read on here that the best temp is 86 but not more than that. He would like some clarification on the matter from someone who can speak of the alkaloid content present at different temperatures. He would prefer a true quantitative analysis rather than "yeah it was stronger". Remember, potency is what he is goin for here.

Substrate effects potency more than an extra 7-10 degrees.

in colinization thier is no akaloid content so 86 degrees is optimal you just want 75 dgrees at fruiting where the akaloids start to be produced so 86 degrees for incubation after that the temps mater on the alkoloid content dont worry until pins form

No alkaloids until fruiting huh? I beg to differ. There is scientific data that begs to differ as well. So then if substrate would affect alkaloid content much more so than temperature, what is the best substrate for cubensis?

do you ever see bluring in grains when you shake them NO that means thiesrs no akloids the bluring effect is from alkaloids oxidizing so where do you get this conclusion adroit?

fee, when I began to be interested in magic mushrooms, my first tries were with The Foolproof Psilocybe Cubensis Mycelial Culture Technique .

I can confirm his observations , there DEFINITELY IS "MAGIC" in the mycelium.

My South Americans prefer temps around 86. I think it's best to have them fairly high because a temperature drop of 10 degrees is very beneficial to the initiation of pinning.

For maximum efficiency in alkaloid production, culturing and harvesting mycelium is both faster and easier than fruiting. You harvest about every week and can get 50 doses or more at a time. I have gotten off BIG TIME from a one quart jar of mycelium which is about 50 grams wet and 5 dry. After extraction, the yeild is about 2-3 10mg doses. I can post the extraction technique if anyone is interested. There is also a qualitative test to be sure that all alkaloids are extracted.

Yes I have the book and posted the extraction method in this same thread in the advanced cultivation forum. Check it out and post replies there http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat...;o=&fpart=1
