Incubator temps....HELP NEEDED

AFOAF :smirk: has 12 inoculated BRF/Verm jars in a small styrofoam cooler at a constant temp range of 78*-80*F...optimal incubation temps are 84*-86*F....how does one raise the temp efficiently?  I've read about using a heating pad but won't that dry the jars out?  Perhaps wrap them up in a thermal blanket?  I need ideas and info.

Grrr....I have read all of the FAQ's...I'm not a little biatch that just asks questions that can easily be answered in the FAQ's (though I admit I have done so in the past)...I was just wondering if there were any alternatives that are low maintence, that can use my styrofoam cooler set up, and not dry out my jars.

Is a heating pad that pad or will it really dry out my jars? And what about a thermal blanket like I asked before? Any tips from any of you out there that can't be found in the FAQ's...?

You could put a heating pad at the bottom of the cooler, then place a blanket or towel over the pad and put the jars on that. It would be wise to do the blanket over the pad then let that sit to see what the temperature on the blanket is going to be before you put your jars on it.

how bout this....

my pet has the incubator set in a small utility room with a towel wedged under the door to keep the warm air in more efficiently. to regulate temps with in the room, my pet uses different wattages of normal incandescent bulbs. so far for the room size, a 100watt bulb keeps the temp 84-86? pretty much 24/7. the bulb is mounted on a small desk lamp that is sitting on the floor and the incubator is raised off the floor because heat rises. this aint rocket science. just a simple solution to something people have written teks about.
