104 degress incubation temps - dead Spores?
    #883802 - 09/15/02 07:17 PM (15 years, 10 months ago)

I found my incubator upon arriving home to be at 104 degress for about an hour or so. Its been at about 82 before and since then - I only innoculated a few days ago. Will that high temp for the amount of time kill any of the jars? Thanks.

Yes there is a chance that you killed them off.

106 degrees is thermo death.

You had them at 104 degrees.....and they are always a few degrees warmer inside the jars.

I guess you can wait and see if they make a come back.
I'd suggest starting some new ones.....if you have extra spores.

good luck!

I could be wrong but I thought 106 is thermo death for mycelium. I think spores can stand it a good bit warmer. Even if some had germinated and the myc killed off, I think theres a good chance that the remaining spores will germinate and colonize. I certainly wouldn't toss it.

PM me with any cultivation questions.

I just looked at my profile and realized I had a website at one point in time on geocities, it's not there anymore and I have no idea what I had on it. Anybody remember my website from several years aga? PM if so please.
