Incubator temp.

I was wondering how far you let your incubator fluctuate from 85 degrees before adjusting it. I have a basic tub in tub style incubator that has been warming up since I put the jars in it yesterday. The highest temp it has reached thus far is 87 degrees. How hot is to hot? I guess my main concern is heat, because I know that cooler temps just slow your growth a bit.

I have the same type. Tub in tub. It ranges from 83-89 depending on if i cover the top with a blanket or leave it off. I havent noticed any ill effects from 89 nor 83...i wouldnt let mine get much hotter than that tho.

The jars have a good amount of water in them which will insulate them and prevent the temperature from changing very quickly but if you leave it at 89 or more for a while growth will slow and waste will accumulate.

A little bit of time at 89F won't really hurt them, but if you see that turn the heat down.

Last night I put a blanket over them with another one coving the tub and it went to 88-89 degrees and this afternoon it looked like they grew more mycelium. And I also noticed that the jars that were touching the sides of the tub were growing a lot faster than the ones in the middle. So I moved them all to a wall

Cubie Mycelium can grow fine in the low 90's . Unless the temp is consistantly over 95 I wouldn't worry.

AFOAF's setup is the same as Magash's with the pump and
she uses a Repti-Temp 500R thermostat to control a
150W submersible heater. The heater is set on full and
the 500R has a remote sensor sitting on the jars. The
500R is adjusted to maintain around 83 degrees.
So far it's between 82 and 85.

She tried the "pickle jar" idea first in a styro cooler but
the temps were only warm right next to the jar so she
went with the tub in tub deal for even heating.

BTW yarry, did you use the quick reply function to post?
I can't get that to work.

no i jus used the last post thingy. heres my setup so she knows how it works, anyone else can comment too

Its all contained in a large rubbermaid tub with a towel on the bottom. I have a thermometer in there so i can see where its at. anyways inside this is all my jars and a pop bottle. The pop bottle is filled about two thirds of the way up with a handtowel in the bottom, it distributes the heat. Inside i have a thermometer and then i have electric tape covering the hole i used to put the thermometer in. once in awhile ill take the jars closest to the heater and move em to the back but with the lid its not a big prob. if you wanna get it warmer then this allows toss a blanket on top. works like a charm! :-)
