growing salvia question

If I bought a Salvia cutting (or 3) and grew them inside Like I plan to do, on average what kinda growth can I expect ... Basically is salvia a fast growing plant. I just don't want to be waiting like a year, year and a half to get like an once of dry leaves ... Well it's not that I would mind that, I'd just have to buy some 5 or 10 x salvia also to last me till I can use my plants, and that's money I don't have. I've got enough for one or the other. Plus the cuttings I don't have to explain to people if they check the mail before me ...
Also how have others found growing salvia indoors? yay, nay? to much work? pretty easy? Any info would be good ...

Mine are indoors now that it's too cold for them outside. I have a total of 80W of flourescent light for them, nothing special, no misting or humidity tent or anything. They're on a 16/8 day/night cycle, and are growing by roughly a node every week or so. They grow even faster if you have them outside in the summer. They are without doubt the fastest growing plants that I have grown!

Nothing - I've never seen any on my plants! There was a little black fly thingy hanging around suspiciously a while ago, but I discovered that they were living in my germinating/seedlings/grafts cupboard, where it's always warm and humid. So I put a venus flytrap in there and solved the problem .

Pyretherine (sp?) containing pesticides are good for killing white flies.

Cool thanks ... I will definitely go and buy a few cuttings. I like the way they look so innocent, and the everyday joe has no clue what they have the power of. It's amazing it is ... so are the white flies normally a big problem?

I mist mine as many times as possible (2-3+ times a day). They are against the wall on which is a window that recieves direct sulight. The plants do not. Just strong indirect light. I use a 1/2 serving of fish emulsion once a month. (use out doors. if you smell it you will understand.) I water them every three or four days. I love my plants. THAT is my best advice.

keep the humidity up and the heat up aswell. this is a tropical plant.
mine grow quickly, i got mine this summer and well its big....
i cant say in height how big it is because i topped it and it has like 6 or 7 main stems, and i took 8 clones, but it grows pretty fast even in shitty conditions.
