Another vote for 'snert' - it's one of the few things I kind of miss sometimes since I stopped eating meat, but fortunately, it can be made very similar to the real thing without meat. Proper snert involves bacon (cooked as part of the soup, not fried), pork foot (idem) and 'rookworst' (smoked sausage; a fine-textured sausage with a very thin skin) that is sliced over or into the soup when it's done (don't cook the sausage as part of the soup).

Btw, a major improvement to taste and texture is to use frozen peas (or even fresh ones, but let's stay realistic) instead of dried split peas.

And while we're at it: lentil soup in any of its incarnations! Pulses are great for soups.

Yeah I third Snert. Its so rich and full. Preferably with a warm french baguette bread fresh from the oven to rip-and-dip.





It is SO GOOD.


As a better known international soup, I really enjoy creamy mushroom soups, particularly with gourmet mushrooms.

I can't really do curry, guess it's not bad in small amounts, but I had to much of it some Indian peoples house and that experience kinda burned me out on it.

I'm not too keen on overly spiced food either. I love a kebab once in a while, but, always ask for the mildly spiced mint, rather than the full on chilli sauce. After one bite of that you can't realy taste anything, just pain. I'd rather chomp on a hedgehogs pene to be honest.
