So guys I have been dealing with insomnia for a bit now some nights it's worse than others I've been being prescribed 10mg ambien for sleep but I also take 1_2mg klonipin as well which I am also prescribed. Well you guys know how my boyfriend and I broke up at the end of August. So I went to go see my psych med Dr and I had missed an appointment I had for September because I couldn't get a ride. Well when I got there she was all posses that I was ten minutes late even though I called ahead of time and said I'd be late because my grandmother had to drive from 4 towns away to pick me up for the appointment and got stuck in traffic. Anyways so I start to explain to her that me and my ex broke up due to domestic violence and she says I'm a liar and that if she brought him in there he would tell a different story. So that had me pissed off not to mention she skipped the remaining 20 mins of my appointment time made me wait in the waiting room unroll her next appointment showed and then saw her first before she saw me so I was already mad. So I didn't get to tel.her the whole story of how everything went down before she asked where I was staying now and I was honest I said I was seeing somebody else but he used to be friends with my boyfriend used to be is key there see she didn't let me tell her what happened before she said oh well you have a personality disorder and I can't see.you anymore because you need to be seeing a therapist I said I am seeing a therapist she's good friends with you and referred me.to.you I said if you don't believe me call her she says oh that easier said than done I said fine would you like to give you the case number from the police report she just said she won't see me.anymore and then I'm pretty pissed at this point she hands me my scripts and I leave slamming the door. I get outside and she cut my dose.of klonipin in half without telling me and wrote.them out so I can only get 7 at a time same with my ambien and my tegretol the best part is she didn't even know what she was prescribing me she failed to give me my script for anafranil and the other half for.my tegretol.
So I've been taking 10mg of ambien and 1_2mg klonipin a night and I still have trouble sleeping sometimes I take another 5mg ambien and still.can't sleep. My body is tired but I have OCD that effects my thought patterns it makes my thoughts loop and ruminate that coupled with my anxiety and ptsd makes it hard for my thoughts to stop so I can sleep .
And now.if I don't find a new.psych med Dr. In 4 weeks I have to taper off klonipin by myself I'm not really sure how to do that and I don't.know what I'll do without something to help me sleep
Can anybody please give me some advice?
By the way about the whole me.dating my exes friend Well when my exes friend found out about the domestic violence he beat up my ex . And feeling very strongly about the subject wanted nothing to do with him anymore and I had had a growing crush on him since we met 4 years ago we just had so much in common unlike my ex and I. But I'd never cheat I'm not that kind of person and I never planned to. My relationship with my current boyfriend didn't start until me and my ex were over and so.was their friendship. Just to clear things up

By the way I be tried reading writing watching a movie drawing and turning everything off which usually leads to me staring at the ceiling then getting restless then getting agitated and more angry with myself because I can't sleep and my thoughts won't stop and then I have to get up and do something until my brain finally decides its tired enough to sleep

Sorry OP. You seriously need a different doctor because she shouldn't treat a patient like that.
As far as the kpins... I'd recommend getting off them and never touching benzos with a 10 foot pole. It's for the better.
I'd try and give you some advice on sleeping but... you know, I'm awake.

I agree you need a new doctor, that visit was so unprofessional and rude.
How long have you been on the ambien and kpins? I do benzos and i know a few people that have high tolerances but taking 5mg of ambien and still not being able to sleep is pretty extreme.
I am just curious how long u have been taking them.
Also, what the above poster said (and not to sound hypocritical because as i mentioned i use them sometimes and am perscribed a low dose of xanax for my panick attack disorder), it is not good to be taking benzos daily especially at the doses you've mentioned.
I recently went to the doc for insomnia and was perscribed a non narcotic anxiety med. I take it twice daily and it helps me sleep at night. I was trying all of the same things as you...exercise, reading, writing..etc..nothing was helping
My advice would be to find a new doc that may be able to diagnose your disorders properly. For me, it turned out i didn't have insomnia, it was my anxiety that was keeping me awake at night.
I know you mentioned you are OCD and also have PTSD, i would just recommend that you find a new doc. Maybe if they can treat those disorders, your sleep will improve, as did mine

You need to get up early, make sure you stay up all day, and go for daily runs and exercise....get outdoors with people. Eat clean, drink water, and start to take less and less of those pills until your totally off of them. This is the digital age of idleness, apathy, and sedentary lifestyles caused by MASSIVE internet addiction. People aren't staying physical enough to make themselves tired at night anymore.

This doesn't work for everybody though, some peoples brains are just wired differently.
I work 8 hour days, ride my bike to work, come home then go for a 20-40 mile bike ride at intense temp (20+mph) then sometimes I run a 5K on top of that. I am extremely active, but have a harder time going to sleep after doing so much activity. I have read this is normal though, people that exercises often have a hard time falling asleep, something related to adrenaline in your body if memory serves me correct.

I have tried that, have also tried turning all electrical devices off an hour before bedtime and having dim lights so that my brain will naturally produce melatonin, neither of those things work for me.

Started out with 5mg for a while, that didn't work so moved up to 10mg.

get off all meds, no stimulating drugs 8 hrs prior or at all if you can...try and get some exercise each day if you can...and most importantly EVEN WHEN YOU THINK YOU CAN'T SLEEP YOU CAN! It's all mental, focus on your breathing and really really try to control that spinning of adhd in you.
I understand the last part is hard but if you really try some zen shit and seriously focus on nothing but your breathing you will wake up the next morning so happy you did it and it'll become natural. Also the time from which you pass out should roughly be the same but seriously these are all the biggest pointers and I've had serious issues with insomnia for a long time. Good luck and hope you beat the medications as they are truly not helping you and are linked to alzheimers earlier.
