Been suffering insomnia lately, its starting to get to me

Idk what the fuck to do...Im prescribed adderall and at first i was thinking that had something to do with it but over the past two days I havent taken any adderall and i still cant fucking sleep...I have benzos but I also have my first big probation meeting coming up in 10 days..
Im not prescribed benzos so Im scared of failing a drug test for benzos, I really dont feel like going to prison for 3 years because I need to sleep..
And my job wont let me fucking call off either, Everyone else can call off but I close the store and closers cant call off because if we call off nobody is there to close the store..

Its like I just lay there and stare at the back of my eyelids for hours and hours no matter how tired I am and its really starting to cause me emotional, physical and psychological problems. Im becoming irritable, angry, I cant think, I cant remember shit and Im having terrible mood swings. Ive tried melatonin and benadryl but they dont work. My next thing would be to maybe try valerian root.

Shroomery, IDK what to do..its been getting progressively worse the past few weeks.

So, do you like.. not sleep AT ALL? Or just lay there for hours every single night and maybe get a few hours of sleep?

I mean your body has to eventually shut down due to lack of sleep.

I don't really recommend MORE drugs, just to get to sleep. Maybe as a last resort..

First thoughts: if you've been taking adderral for a while, might need some time for it to evacuate your system completely.

Second: I would look at your diet. What is your diet like? Do you eat healthy?

Third: Exercise. Even if you just get like 15-20 minutes of mild exercise a day, that's enough. Better than none. And it should definitely help you sleep easier at night.

Valerian is good to calm the nerves for sure. Also you might look into Kava Kava.

Have you tried any real sleeping pills? Not melatonin but actual sleeping pills?


I'd try them and if they don't work, talk to your doctor and maybe he'll prescribe you something.

This. Just remember this...unless you have fatal familial insomnia, which I highly, highly doubt lol. Do NOT let yourself sleep during the day, do not let yourself sleep in or go on sleep-marathons to catch up. Stick to a strict sleeping schedule, you may have to supplement with meds - but the key is sticking to that schedule. Don't use your bed for anything but sleep and make your bedroom a peaceful sanctuary, but most importantly do not allow sleep outside those hours - no matter how tired you are.

Eventually your body has to get used to that schedule, there's no way around it. You might have to endure it frequently, I know my body has trouble with the whole circadian rhythm thing, it just means that it gets off track way easier and I have to work a little to keep it in check.

Adderall will NOT help you - if you take it then try and ask for the IR version and do not take more than low therapeutic doses and give your body frequent breaks, don't dose after a certain time if you can help it. I am prescribed adderall and started taking it again after almost a year of not dosing and sporadic dosing, I take 10-20mg every other day, and go weekends without it and I feel much more stable and I feel like it is helping me in the way it was intended to.

Talk to your doctor about temporarily getting on a sleeping pill - some people use benzos in addition to adderall to help with the comedowns, I feel like it is equally bad to rely on another drug to bring you down everyday, but I'm not a doctor and you may need them temporarily to help your body get on a schedule. Seriously, the best thing for people like you(and I) is to keep yourself on a strict regiment. I am a terribly inconsistent person by nature, so just being consistent with sleeping and dosing is a step in the right direction and I function much better.

And daily exercise, that too.

^^What he said. Getting a regular sleep schedule is important.

Me, I work late night, so I don't get home until Midnight. My regular bedtime is like 6-7am, when the sun is rising.. I see the sun coming up and my body gets instantly tired.

I would try to avoid taking sleeping pills if you can avoid it. Like I said I wouldn't really recommend more drugs just to sleep.

I would DEFINITELY look at your diet first, and GET SOME EXERCISE. If you can't sleep after a day of good exercise then there is something wrong with you. If that doesn't work, then maybe try sleeping pills.

But I would not rely on them at all. Sleeping pills have a tendency to make it hard as FUCK to wake up the next day, (at least whenever I've taken them.. I am always groggy as fuck the next day). And I've known people who did that who then, couldn't sleep UNLESS they took sleeping pills at night.. they relied on them to sleep... that's not something you want.

Thanks for the advice guys, I think Ill try the 30 minute exercise thing first. I plan on staying up throughout this day, and I think I actually found someone decent enough to cover my shift. The rest of my coworkers are all to damn selfish and theyre the kind of people that drop what they are doing and dip out the second their shift ends.

Yeah I think Ill try some valerian and exercise at first, maybe do a 30-45 min fast paced walk today.

sometimes Ill fall asleep sort of for like an hour, like hit stage 1 but then I wake up and cant even get close. Its like I lay there and stare at the back of my eyelids for hours and hours then eventually the sun comes up, the birds start chirping, kids start playing in my neighborhood and im just fucked.

Meditation.

I suffered from insomnia for a few years before it literally drove me insane. Couldn't keep track of the days, short term memory was practically gone, vivid hallucinations. No sleeping pills worked for me, no sleep study helped figure out anything. My mind would just race and race and race and race and race.

One day I realized that my racing thoughts are what kept me awake. I couldn't control my mind. It would wander where ever it wanted, and I had to follow along. I started researching natural remedies, and one was meditation before bed.

I thought it was a joke, but after a week of it I noticed myself slipping off to sleep much easier and faster than before. I didn't have all those thoughts racing around my head anymore. I learned how to shut it up, and in return, shut it down.

Hopefully that might be of some help for you.

Ya man, try getting like 30 mins of exercise a day.. anything really.. cardio is good though. If that doesn't help I would be shocked.

When my sleep schedule has gotten fucked up (hundreds of times), a lot of times I will not sleep, stay up all through that day, and then try and "reset" and go to sleep my normal time that night. If your body is tired as FUCK, it's almost impossible to not sleep.

But yeah it's important that you try and go to sleep around the same time every night, get your body into a rhythm.

Yeah my sleep schedules so wack its not even funny, Maybe ill even try the meditation too. I just would rather not have to eat xanax or kpins to sleep and shit.
Fuck all that noise, I should be able to sleep.

and Shroomy, thats what happens to me..I lay there  and my mind starts racing and racing from one thought to the next and before I know it its been 5-6 hours of me just laying there thinking.

Thanks for the advice guys, definately gunna take the advice and hopefully it works.

The last thing I want is to rely on drugs to do what im supposed to do naturally, thatd be fucked.

and to answer a previous question, Ive been on adderall for years and years now and its never affected my sleeping.

Ya, just sounds like you need to get the natural rhythm back. Meditation definitely helps a racing mind.
The exercise will definitely help put your body to sleep.
Also try and "wind down" before you go to sleep. I.e- don't do anything highly stimulating. relax, drink some water, meditate, read a book, whatever.

Another thing Ive been noticing is the uncontrollable urge to writhe my legs when im laying down, mainly from the ankle down. Its like I get this urge to twist and turn my feet and ankles.

I have that too, pretty bad. The exercise should help this considerably.

Also you may be deficient in magnesium. I didn't even think about that until you mentioned the RLS.
This is the absolute best method I have found for dosing magnesium.

I HIGHLY recommend this stuff ^^^^ It treats a vast number of things.. and if you are deficient in magnesium it can result in a HUGE spectrum of ailments

Cardio is great. I really really always suggest people pick up running(outside, not on the treadmill or anything), because nothing is more therapeutic for me. It will had immediate affects on your mood and body, and it may be a turning point in your lifestyle altogether. The only way to get good at it is just to get out there. Get some headphones and start slow.

Walk for 5-10 minutes(in warmer weather you don't really need to warm up, but it's better to be safe when in doubt) and then start of by alternating running 1 minute at a time and walking for 1-2 minutes at a time. Repeat 10x and increase it minute by minute every week. Very easy way for beginners to get themselves to the point where they can run for 30 minutes continuously. There are multiple programs that follow similar routines - couch to 5k is the most popular one.

Seriously, running is amazing, definitely consider it, it certainly helps me sleep at night.

That shit is amazing for real. My girl cured her psoriasis with magnesium therapy alone after trying EVERYTHING else and nothing was working.

I was severely deficient in magnesium, that was resulting in tons of weird stuff. I didn't even realize until I started dosing the magnesium through the skin, how GOOD it made me feel... then all those weird things started going away when I wasn't deficient. Also not to mention if you are deficient in magnesium, your body cannot even absorb calcium properly. Magnesium is SO important for virtually EVERY function of the body.

It also helps with restlessness, irritability, etc etc etc. A bottle of that stuff can last you for a good year or two or even more depending how often you use it.

It's difficult to get enough magnesium through the diet alone. And if you take magnesium supplements orally, it can/will give you diarrhea. Dosing pure magnesium through the skin is the absolute best way, right into the bloodstream.

And you've got it DC. I thought insomnia would be the death of me, but it can be turned around, it just takes time and determination.

Our mind is the one thing in this world that we have some relative control over. Once you realize you can cure yourself from within, the rest will all fall into place. Don't stress over the fact that you can't sleep right now. Accept the truth that your mind races, and you stay up all night. It will do you no good trying to fight reality.

Now that you know where the problem arises, you can take control of it. Meditation is nothing more than being aware of the present moment. You will notice that it is difficult at first to focus your attention on one thing, but you will also notice where your mind keeps wandering too, which are areas of your life that might need changing.

If your mind is anything like mine, as far as the racing thoughts go, than this might be a good option for you. It will do more than just help you sleep again; it will help you with all aspects of your life. It brought many of my frustrations to the surface, and once I acknowledged them, I didn't have to trouble myself with them anymore. I accepted them.

It appears I MAY be right. You may be deficient in calcium and magnesium. They say that's a common cause of being unable to get a full nights sleep or to go deep into sleep.
Would also explain the restlessness, and ringing in the ears. Those are also signs of magnesium deficiency.

Get that ancient minerals shit. I can guarantee positive results. It helps practically everything.

kava kava (an hour before sleep), valerian(2 hours before sleep), melatonin(when you lay
down), and weed (sometime in between those).

you could also go the doxylamine route, or the benzodiazepine path.

all of the above has also worked for me before. Adderall can take a tole on your sleep schedule
IME. and that doesn't turn out well for anyone in your life, including yourself.

remember though since you take a stimulant, you'll need to be taking higher dosages of
previous listed drugs. im not giving advice on dosage, you know your body best.

Its not my adderall thats causing it though, I havent taken it the past two days because I thought that was the culprit but its not.

Kava is pretty amazing too. But if you are deficient in magnesium.. get that taken care of first, because that effects everything else.

I'm pretty sure I've also read that magnesium deficiency, makes other drugs/vitamins and substances less bio-available to your body - i.e - you don't absorb them fully.

I tried with mushrooms. I ate 3 grams when I was deficient and had a mild trip.
After I had been dosing magensium, I ate those same mushrooms, 3 grams... and had one of the most intense trips of my life.

well magnesium is an electrolyte, and adderall depletes you of those.

get some b vitamins, and electrolytes in you and see if that helps

I'm going to look into this, because I feel as though I may be deficient. Nevermind, I looked into it and I'm definitely deficient. I didn't realize how important magnesium is in the body. Nor did I know that only 1% of your bodies magnesium is stored in the bloodstream, so your primary physician probably doesn't check you for a deficiency.

B vitamins too! I forgot all about those.

That's a little harder to recover from a B-vitamin deficiency, it can take weeks or months.
Magnesium is absorbed instantly.
B-vitamins, if you are deficient, you have to take them regularly for your body to build back up its natural stores.

Ya man, I had no idea either.. until I started doing the transdermal magnesium.. and realizing HOW FUCKING GOOD I FELT. Like it improved my quality of life in 20 different areas. All these weird little symptoms I had that I couldn't explain, just... went away. After doing some research into it, I realized how freaking important magnesium is for just about EVERY function of the human body, and how many people are deficient and have no clue.

But glad I could be of service. Makes me feel good to help people.
