I just woke up from a nap of about 22 hours. I stayed awake from tuesday morning till thursday. Much to old to do that shit anymore.(but it was worth it). It was a fabulous couple of shows indeed. The second set on the 31st. hit me like a hurricane. It was in short the best music that I have heard live since Jerry died. For me it was much better than any of the shows this summer. It could have been because there was so much old family there and being back in the Bay area, but the magic was definitly on. I was actually able to completly enjoy the music without dwelling on the thought of "if only Jerry were still playing." Thats something that has plagued me since he died. It was a joy to feel the magic full force. I felt it this summer at Red Rocks and some other shows somewhat ,but not as full force as these shows. It was the Dead family back in the Bay area and love and magic was thick enough to cut with a knife. As for Rubien and Cherise I loved it. The Dead only played it a couple times. The last time they played it was at Buckeye lake in the early 90's. I had a ticket for the show and didn't go in. I gave my ticket away so I could get layed by this girl I had been chasing all tour. We were in a van close enough to barley hear the music. I could have died as we layed there and I heard the Rubien and Cherise. I thought damn no lay is worth missing this. My friends make fun of me to this day about it. At least I got to hear the Jerry garcia Band do it a few times in the 80's.
