NO ONE deserves the lawn at Alpine Valley, there is drop offs and washe outs and the damned hill is on a 70% slop. If it gets wet there is one big pile of people smashed up against the Fence to the Pavillion.

Looks like I'm with Adom and KK in section 201. I think it said row VV or was it W? Seats 70 somethinng or other. Kinda far to the side but I can work my way more to the middle. I got two for the Creek too, general admission. And I agree with you Adom about that hill. It can be a killer.

Right on there! I was falling down all the time at Phish last year... tried sneaking into the Pavillion with a friend's ticket, but got busted after 2 songs

I wanted to try that last year but they were watching pretty heavily, I'd get dancing and slip all the time, I thought I'd roll right down the hill and take out dozens of dancers.
KC, I've never been there, maybe I will. I don't think anything is stopping me but I'm hesitant. I am also holding off for the Oregon show right now.

I love Alpine.
When you're in the pavillion and you totally forget about the 20,000 people behind you, that's magic. Then during space or something you turn around and look at all the tiny people and they seem so far away. I think the acoustics are pretty good there. I remember a few nights just feeling Phil's bass hit me so hard. There are better venues and the lot scene sucks lately due to this new ban on any unlicenced vending (I've scene people cuffed for selling necklaces), noththeless I love Alpine. A lot of magic happened there and will continue to happen there. There's a reason The Others Ones picked that place over any other venue for the two Terrapin shows back in '02.

Alpines a sweet venue. Back in the old days before the Dead got so huge it was one of the sweetest venues in the midwest.

I'm more than likely going to Shoreline. Miss the Dead in the bay area, I think not. Seriously if time permits I will be there. Lots of old friends in that neck of the woods. So far I know i'm going to Bonnaroo, Red Rocks and going to try to hit NY. Also going to try for Shoreline and Oregon. Just a matter of scedualing and making it work, which it always seams to. I'm getting to old for this shit, but it was so nice to see so many old faces last year.

i dont see a damn thing wrong with the lawn at Alpine, PLENTLY of space for everyone to do their own thing.
And why in the hell someone would want to sit/stand in a seat/bench when you can be dancing/laying on grass is something i cant understand.

But it's kinda hard to dance when you keep falling down a hill (maybe it was all those mushrooms, though )... Plus the very very front of the pavillion at Alpine is great for dancing.
But the lawn at the main stage at Bonnaroo... now that was dancing paradise! (especially during the Wailers last year! Anybody remember that? Sun was shinin' and the weather was sweet, yeah)

So my parents just told me that they want me to come to visit them in the end of July... and that they will even pay for the tickets to come home!!! And, as it turns out, that is the same time as the Alpine > Indiana > Detroit > Columbus run... Ahhh yeah! I just might be on the bus for a bit! Shit... now I gotta find somewhere to camp at Alpine...

Where did you find that tape at? Did you download it or burn it from a friend? Might you be able to put it up on the net somewhere or send me a copy? I'd love to take another listen to that...
