Jeff mills played on an "underground rave" last year. Integrity is awesome. For free.

Then again we don't have shitty kandikids here so I get what bassfreaks saying. i'd be pissed off too, get the fuck out or i'll PLUR ALL OVER YER FACE

I just call them electronic concerts. :shrug:

dubstep is way bigger in the US right now. UK is like so disgusted with our version of dubstep that theyve basically given up on it. 5 years ago i woulda loved to hit a UK dubstep show, but these days the US just has a way better scene for it

I wonder where you think these talented djs come from.  Do you think they just spring out of the ground?  All these dudes started off playing little parties and venues before they got big. A dude I spun with in the local circuit many years ago is playing big festivals this year; EFF, summer camp, sonic bloom, wakarusa, etc.  And he was good from the first time I heard him in a shitty bar.  :shrug:

well small venues are the shit. best place to see a show for sure


but i mean i guess youre right, i woulda loved to see lorin way back in the day when he was playing at forest parties in cali back in the day, but still, theres a lot of improvement from when they were first starting to where they are now

i mean you gotta play shows to get big and get ur name out there, but seriously, i still would nust rather wait til theyre better, like besides a few artists

like tipper for example, he was nowhere near the level he is now, back when he was first starting. and that goes for sooooo many diff names

Yeah, I understand that many djs get better as they come up big, you're right about that.  I just like to see new acts all the time (or I used to before I got old & started parenting, lol).  A lot of guys who have true skill never "make it", for whatever reason.  Many become disenfranchised with the whole scene, dealing with promoters and the whole hustle, so they just kinda phase out of it. 

Point is, I bet if you went to a small "rave"-type party, you'd probably hear at least one or two djs who kill it. I know for a fact that there's a legit scene for it in your area.  Are the Bassic parties still happening up there?

i would never consider bassic a rave tho. bassic always featured legit fucking DJs

i love shows at small bars or sumthin cuz small venues are the shit


but nah bassic is over now, which sucks cuz boston is one of the only places in america with a scene for real dubstep, even tho it was a super small scene. i went to a few of their shows


a new promoter started booking those same names and type of dubstep tho, called "drown" (like drown in deep bass). so hopefully that gets some steam cuz so far hes booked some good names, joe nice and kahn for sure but i think theyve only had like 5 shows so far, its a once a month event i think. still pretty new but i met the dude at a G Jones show and he was a cool dude. ill def be a supporter if the shows are on weekends

most of the shows i hit these days are in small venues, like pretty much all of them besides bassnectar or PL shows. and fests is diff cuz big fests are just batshit fuckin crazy



burke if single day tix get released, you shud go see bassnectar at bisco and we'll meet up. cuz hes not touring this year and camp is like his only REAL festival date on the east coast. that plus the fact that camp is one of his fav fests, i mean hes just gonna fuckin demolish that place
