Do you have PETA on speed dial?  Do you give a shit when people have dogs or cats in their yard?  Do you protest people with fish aquariums?  Do you get upset when you see a gold fish not living his life to the fullest?  All this is is an animal your not use to seeing as a pet.  Goto your local VET and ask them some of the crazy animals that people have in your area.  I bet you they know where tigers and shit like that are.  My buddy's wife works at a vet and they close on two Fridays a month for "special" pets.  She told me someone brought in a small lion a few months ago.

I have seen many pet deer and they are very cool.  I wouldn't want to be trapped in the yard with a buck in the rut but other than that having a few does would be pretty damn cool.

Do you know how many of them hunting shows take place in fenced in properties.

Nothing I write on Shroomery's message boards or in private messages are true.  I am fucking crazy and I make all this shit up because I can.

Animals get stuck in chimneys all the time.

And there's probably nothing wrong with the fence. Animals just don't have the type of critical thinking skills people do. That isn't our fault.

well thats pretty gross, glad i dont have a chimney. i'm not one for waking up to racoons covered in ashes tearing my house apart

i'm not gonna keep arguing, but you wont change my mind that dangerous fences should be removed.

a deer could never get stuck in my back yard fences. its simply impossible, because they weren't constructed by an incompetent

also, constructing a fence surreptitiously to trap game animals, especially out of season or without a license, is illegal

Never say never. There's all kinds of things that could happen to a deer after it's hopped your fence.

One time my friend rode his horse to my farm and it disturbed my cows so much, they all freaked out and jumped over the fence. Until that day I would have told you that's impossible..2,000 lb animals can't jump 6 feet..so on so forth.. and I would have been wrong.

It might be. However, OP has no proof this is the case.

Quote:
Farm Layout

Again, careful planning is essential for a successful operation. Design your range, pens, food plots, breeding areas and handling facilities in advance. It is best to incorporate plans for future expansion at this time. Since deer adapt well to most terrain, acreage suitable for deer farming may be relatively inexpensive. On one prime acre of land, you may accommodate2-3 adult whitetail deer, 7-10 adult fallow deer, 4-7 adult red deer, 7-8 axis deer and 1-2 elk.

However, keeping the number of animals per acre to a minimum reduces stress on the animals. You may find it will be more cost-effective in the long run to spread your animals out, in order to maintain the plant densities that will keep a pasture healthy and able to regenerate the following spring.

In developing the farm site, an important factor is a steady and reliable source of clean water. Fresh water is essential to any deer’s diet. It is also beneficial to try to use the deer’s naturally occurring travel routes and special use areas. These paths can help to create an overall plan regarding runways for movement of stock, breeding paddocks, fawning areas and a centrally located handling facility to which stock an reasonably be moved form your special use areas.
Fencing

Choose hi-tensile fence designed specifically for deer or game. Small squares (or rectangles) in the fencing near ground level will accomplish much in the way of predator control year-round and help contain inquisitive youngsters in the spring.

An outer covering of shad cloth, plastic or wooden snow fence or other visual barrier is a valuable tool in further securing your livestock.

Corner and end posts are usually of greater diameter than line posts. Use quality gates for perimeter fence openings, including a pedestrian walk-through. Eight foot fence is normally adequate for containing most species of farmed deer; however, check with your state for special regulations that may apply.

Chimneys are a lot different from fences though.

Fences are around property and can be much much bigger obviously.

Chimneys are an entrance to peoples homes.

So in one case an animal wold be dying trying to enter your home.

And the other one gets stuck or whatever just trying to walk around the woods or wherever the fence is located...

Pretty big difference if you ask me.

Also as others have said fences can be set up to not interfere with wildlife much if at all.

That's why I said earlier to leave well enough alone.

Gotta ask yourself if you really want to piss off cops. One has already shaken his head in dismay and to no avail. There's no white knighting these deer dude.

The sheriff isn't "driving" a herd though... He has a fence meant to keep deer out that is clearly not working as intended from all OP has shared.

Where dos it say it doesn't matter if some get trapped inside? That is still altering the behavior of a wild animal and that is what the law specifically is protecting...

If a deer gets trapped inside a fence by itself, how is that altering the behavior of a wild animal?

the fence is altering the behavior of the animals by being there.

if i line my property with 1ft high barbed wire and a child gets stuck in it, or a bunch of animals, or whatever and i get reported to the police, i will be fucked.

and its not because barbed wire is illegal or something, its because i used it in an improper, negligent and dangerous way.

or for instance, say i leave a loaded pistol in the middle of the road on purpose. its not illegal to own that pistol, but it is illegal to place it in the middle of the road for any kid to pick up

holy fuck, I never thought I would read something so incredibly stupid from you

OP's neighbors fence hasn't trapped one, but at least three deer. its an issue that should be fixed

i'm sorry if i hurt your butt, but deer farmers say this:

Quote:
On one prime acre of land, you may accommodate2-3 adult whitetail deer, 7-10 adult fallow deer, 4-7 adult red deer, 7-8 axis deer and 1-2 elk.

and they do that for a living, so i don't see why i should buy your story about a few deer starving on 10 acres.
