There was a CVA Wolf .50 muzzleloader in the Mills Fleet Farm sunday ad this week in MN for $189.99.  It looks like a nice gun too. Camo stock and body with a stainless barrel.  I believe Gander Mountain carries the same brand (CVA) with a few more models to choose from. Gander is a little usually a little more expensive IME.  I don't know a lot about muzzleloaders, but you can pick one up for a reasonable price.

One thing I've wondered: is it legal to hunt deer with an assault rifle?

I believe I read in another thread that you live in NJ.  If that is the case, then no.  There is no rifle hunting at all in NJ.  Your choices are muzzle-loader, shotgun with rifled slugs or bow.  There are seasons for each.

Get yourself a nice 10 or 12 gauge and get out there an kill some of those tasty overgrown rats.

That's a really nice buck.  What was the spread?

My cousin tried to measure it while it was hanging, he said it was about 17 inches, I just got back from 3 more days of hunting and didn't even see any more deer except for the ones on the drive back from up north.

I grew up on a farm right on the river. My dad and I use to trap beaver all the time.
they built up dams and fucked the river up. plus the pelt use to be worth a bit.

we'd trap bobcats too. they'd fuck with the calves and the old cows.
