Lol, reminds me of my first mono. I had to make a drying rack out of a hanging cloth shelf, like this one.

I found by putting them cap down you get a beautiful drying color on the caps

I'm just too cheap and lazy to buy a dehydrator

They rob you of potency and quality anyway. Not cheap, innovative.

Actually they don't.

The actives don't break down until the temps get super high, as is evident here. A dehydrator is superior... I'm just lazy lol

Dehydrators do not rob you of potency, nor quality. They are incredibly great for drying out large amounts of fruits.
A PC and a dehydrator are probably the best investments I made for this hobby. But I'm gonna need a new dehydrator soon, I got one from my dad's house that's been there for at least 10 years. From me using it, the plastic top, and some of the trays have began warping.

You can even use an open oven, but that isn't an option where I live

How do you do it? I traded herb for one back in the day, it has like seven racks. Everytime I use it I feel like the things just get cooked to a crisp. It works good for jerky and fruit.

Why is it that you cant? seems simple enough.
Here are the pics i promised Myco-ninja
These all have starch and potato scraps along with the other usual stuff, I just did them 2 days ago My fist sub was amazonian, these are hawaiian and burma. Ill add sugars to some once they are more colonized.

Here is the LC I let this one have temp fluctuation: The result was enzyme secretions and clumping As you can see they are feeding on the minerals from the rocks I put in. The other two are incubated at 78 F

I live with two good friends, one of which owns the house. The owner has no problem with me cultivating, he just doesn't want to see any of it. I've been looking into new places for a while, nothing yet but fingers crossed.
I tried making an LC once. It went to shit and I've just used MS ever since. I've been looking into agar, but I have a hard enough time keeping everything sterile as it is (my room is the attic, converted to a bedroom), so I just use MS. Significantly less fuck ups
Those bins look good so far to me, looks like they're colonizing just fine. Keep us posted dude, good work for a first timer

I've looked all around this site for information on where I went wrong with my LC, and determined that my failure was due to either the concentration of corn syrup, or poor GE. Either way, MS is the way to go for me for now. Once I have some cleaner living arrangements, I'm definitely going to pick up agar

You can do agar easily with out needed too much of a sterile environment, especially if you can make syringes. Do you have a SAB?

Yeah, I've got a SAB. But my understanding of agar is that you need to be a sterility nazi to make it work. I've read many threads on agar, and own RR's dvd's, and from what I've gathered it can be difficult at the best of times. What's your method?

Personally, I prefer to do no pour pasty plates over pouring the agar, mainly because plastic petri dishes are not re usable and because that way I know the plates are 100% sterile.
After you have plates, it's really just making sure your hands are clean and that the air is settled. Agar was very intimidating for me to start, but it's much easier than it looks.
Plus I don't have to hope for non contamed spore syringes anymore. Funny story actually, the reason I started doing agar was because, for some odd reason, I couldn't make a spore syringe correctly anymore. I wasted like 3 prints, said "fuck this" and just started agar. I don't regret that decision.
