try heat. Around 82 or so but ask the experts about the best temp for each strain. Also make sure there is air exchange. Loosen jar lids, fan daily etc.

bomb do you really open the lid and fan the colonizing cake? and no contams?

Would it be better to loosen the jar lids or just take the tape off the holes?

IT depends on what tek you used. Not all teks have you put holes in the lids. In fact alot of teks have you lift the jars lid to innoculate, esp. if your using a spore print directly.

Does everyone but my buddy put tape on their holes?? He has never used tape and still gets no contams.

you know i never get contams, all i do is make sure the air is still, and spray some bleach, once i dropped a small casing on my carpet and put it back into the casing and it got green mold, i just scooped it out with a spoon and got good results. i use four holes on the top of my jars, tape them, boil it, and take the tape off and it works just fine, if it still goes slow i open the lid and fan,then put the lid back on.
