My girlfriend's FOAF did a casing a couple months ago. On day 13 of the casing she had about 45 shrooms of various sizes. There was at least 60 wet grams that could have been harvested on day 13 and 14.

i say wait till all the cakes are almost fully colonized, cut out the non colonized stuff or whatever, and then make a casing with a super tiny casing layer, wait three days (thats how long it takes for the mycelium to re-do its community) and then add another small casing layer, to make things right. if the casing layer is small youll have to watch it and make sure it doesnt overlay. that might take too long though. you can cut out the uncolonized substrate, and then dunk them for 24 hours, (this tricks the mycelium into think it just rained, and it will fruit) and then put it in the terrarium or whatever youre going to do with it.
i may, fucking drop something natural somewhere and it might grow into another piece of shit like you. i dont recognize any of you fucking people, youre not real, you came out of comic books.

The first time I grew, 3 months after innoculation the cakes were about 60-70% colonized. I just threw them in the grow chamber and they did the rest of the work in there....
Whats with all this cut off the uncolonized part.....burn with a...?

As long as you follow any of the good casing teks (see grow/find section) you should be all right. Make sure you mist the casing until you see pinheads. You should get one and possibly two flushes by the 14th, though with just two cakes your yield won't be huge. To answer your question, yes, it's common for the cakes to be tough when you take them out and crumble them up.

Hey Mon,
If time is a big issuse try this. When you start to see pinns forming on the cakes in the jar. place then by a window and let them stay in the jar. they will form scooby snacks inside the jars. ( they wont be pretty ) but they will make you goffy.

Hi,
I need some advice. A FOAF needs some shrooms by August. 14th, not necessarily a lot, but enough for a few doses. This person has 1 100% colonized 1/2pint jar and 3 95%colonized 1/2 pint jars. >>>>
Why don't you just buy yourself a ticket to a place that naturaly grows mushrooms at this time. OTHERWISE follow this time table for innoculation with FRESH or RE-HYDRATED spores.
1 month to 100% innoculaton
1-3 months to 100% fruit production
