some casing advice needed....

i posted this on advanced cultivation, but thought i might post it here as well for some additional opinions.

one week ago my lizard cased a well-colonized substrate (ps. cub.) of rye, straw and worm castings with a peat-verm-lime-oyster shell mixture balanced to 7.5 ph, and there has been very little mycelium movement into the casings. the substrate is in several small shoebox-sized plastic boxes within a large plastic container. the container was unheated, but temperatures were in the upper 70s with 95% humidity. there is no visual sign or smell of contamination (although i have had wet-spot infections recently in other rooms...). the lizard felt that perhaps the casing was too dry, so he started misting well, and he ruffled the casing down to the substrate, hoping to distribute new moisture and aid in colonization. also raised the temps to the mid 80s.

any advice on how to proceed will be appreciated. i suppose at this point, there is nothing to do, except wait. regardless, i'd love to have any input.

damn--psilocyber! i checked the Mg. percentage on the dry weight analysis--it is 17.7 percent. (Ca 29.3, and calcium carbonate equivalent 155%) could this be the problem? sounds very very suspect.

so, my lizard has recased with just verm, a little peat, and some oyster shell. we'll see if that helps. there really was no spread of mycelium into the old casing, but at the same time, no smell of contams--just that great smell of earth... this supports the too much Mg theory, no?

please advise!!
