Remove as much as you can and add fresh. The mycelium makes the water slightly acidic which makes the casing more prone to the green monster.

My pal is at the same point. He put on gloves, washed up with alcohol, and took a sharp and sterile knife and just peeled all his cakes like peeling an apple, about 1/8 of an inch off all sides top and bottom. Then, placed the old top sides down onto a jar lid full of fresh wet vermiculite, and put about 1/8 of an inch of the same on the new top. Then back into the terrerium. This was five days ago. Today he said the cakes are getting nice and white again, with lots of little white bumps that could be new pins on the way to flush #2. By the way, rather than throw away the cake trimmings, (from 8 pf cakes)he made hot tea out of them and filtered it, then drank, and had a nice level 1.5 evening!
