2nd flush cakes look different?

i have rice/verm cakes made using the pf tek and got a first flush of one oz dried. i then used the double ended casing method and put the cakes back in my terrarium. my question is that they all are covered in a fluffy white growth, but it doesn't smell, but i never had this before. is this normal? i am using perlite humidification, and the cakes are sitting on jar lids. is the humidity right? i'm pretty sure its not a contaminant, and i do have a few mushrooms pinning on some of the cakes, but not all, and nothing like the initial first flush. maybe i just need to wait a few more days for more pins to start forming. also, when readying the cakes for a 2nd flush, should they start getting light as soon as you put them back in the aquarium, or should i wait a few days? just curious, any help or thoughts are welcome.

On a lot of strains, the second flush isn't always so great. It definately sounds like your mycellium has overgrown your casing, make sure they are getting lots of fresh air. You don't really have to go out of your way to provide light, or dark. Just repeat what you did for your first flush and hope for the best.

I think you should mist you terrarium after each fkush, the cakes need more water to start another pinning&fruiting season. If you did mist and temps are right you might have a strain that does not reflush abundantly.

if your ususing cakes you should definalty use the dunking tek. I had two cakes growing at the same time after the first flush i dunked one and didnt dunk the other. The one i dunked grew just as fast as my first flush and the other one grew very slow, by the time the duked one was finished the un dunked one was still pinning. also i got that white fluff stuff on one of my cakes, i didnt get a lot of it but mushrooms ended up growing out of it and they were perfectly fine.
