I think in an oscillating universe or multi-dimensional model reincarnation is very possible, but body and mind would probably be interchange-able.

anything is possible. I respect your opinion, OP, but its just that. An opinion. We will know when we die, then if we are born again we will forget again. Damn life always damning our memories and shittt..

If you don't have the same mind and same body how the fuck can you call that reincarnated.

or you know, either one. If you can't remember the lessons you learned from the previous life, it seems pointless to call it reincarnation.

reincarnation as commonly interpreted is very different from the law of conservation of energy/mass

At death we all go back to the same place that we came from. Memories and the like are biological, so reincarnation is probably bull.

What's the point in being reincarnated at all if you're gonna spend the new experience moping about what you lost. Reincarnation sounds amazing and I'm all for it if that's the case. It's like, why do we like to trip? Interesting thoughts, cool stuff, ect. It's because everything is anew. So many insightful thoughts aren't really that new, they're just realized and seen with a fresh eye. I don't know, maybe it's just me but the expectation of reincarnation catering to you is laughable at best. Or atleast, the you you think you are.

yeah the whole beauty of life comes from seeing it through fresh eyes. reincarnation would ruin it

Isn't amazing how humans will make up all sorts of bullshit in order to answer questions that cannot be answered?

Some say when we die we go to heaven, others go to hell, some think your soul is recycled and put in a newborn baby, others think they'll come back as a rabbit...

Everything to avoid the truth that we die and rot in the ground.

Humans. LOL

I don't know what the truth is, I just use reason to show why certain propositions are probably false.

I wouldn't want to be reincarnated. I love my family and my boyfriend, I don't want to forget them or live a life without them. They're irreplaceable and the whole idea is extremely depressing. I don't believe in any after life, but I hope there is because I would like to spend eternity with my loved one.

It's probably a good idea at this point in the thread to explain what exactly you mean by reincarnation, rather than what is "commonly interpreted."

Reincarnation makes sense to me in the sense that cycles are an extremely ubiquitous pattern of reality.  But it seems like our definitions differ.

Reincarnation is simple: the idea that YOU (whatever that refers to) will live again, somehow, in some form. I don't believe it makes sense, since I interpret YOU as referring to a collection of memories.

So it's basically a matter of materialism vs metaphysics.  I'm not quite sure where I stand, because I don't believe enough research has gone into the latter in regards to consciousness.  That isn't to say I'm 'anti science' or anything, I just don't think we have enough information yet to determine one way or another.  If you think about it from a strictly physical understanding, reincarnation indeed makes no sense at all because your body IS you.  I don't necessarily agree, but I realize it could just be wishful thinking that there's some order beyond what we have observed/are observing so far.  But my thinking on it isn't so idealistic as to believe that karma has any bearing here.  Either way I don't think believing one way or the other affects the outcome.

Just because you can't remember something does not mean you cannot become aware of it.

My older brother recalled as a young boy "when I was a man" living on grey hill
Farm around "whales"

Later they learned there is a place called greyhill farm in whales

His memories and convictions were vivid and he became quite distressed around age 4 obsessed woj going back to where he lived when he was a man

What about the people who do? I've read more than one report on people knowing shit about a previous life they had no way of knowing about and giving very specific details.

several of these people have been exposed as being inaccurate in the details
including some kid that says he was a WWII fighter pilot, his details came
from books and he was wrong about many of the details such as where he was
supposedly stationed and where his plane went down

there are also people that believe that eating vegetables, smoking weed or
drinking vinegar and baking soda will cure cancer, then you have the real
loonies like the crystal healing people

people sometimes do not realize how they can remember details (even the smallest of....) and how they manifest these "destiny's".
