It was truly a shitty situation to be in. It really was like torture. It's been over 10 years and even thinking about it now gets my blood boiling lol. I hated that dude so fucking much. I was stuck in the world's most fucked up cycle. The angrier he made me, the more he felt he needed to tell me.

I'm agnostic now because my views have changed, but back then I was full on atheist, with a severe hatred of all things Christian (because of all the bad experiences I've had, like that dude). They fucking bunked me with my polar opposite. It's like they wanted to test me or something. He'd had other bunk mates before me, and they had to separate them.. They weren't as... restrained, as me. They also caught some somewhat significant charges over it and got more time. I just wanted the hell out of the entire place so I did my best to control myself and not just give into the temptation to break his jaw so they had to wire it shut.

his God made for you your own personal hell. how ironic. the insistent and ill-logic must have been so confounding, you'd probably have to start questioning your sanity if you ever tried listening to him; you'd probably have to just try and block him out, but then to him, it'd seem like you'd need to be "saved" more.

 just be glad it's over dude. i hate it when people are illogical and/or can't follow a train of thought other than there own... to be dealing with it incessantly, and directed only at you... must have been... deranged. i actually want to get my truck out again and go and find Almond Flour for you, just for some payback.

Well yeah, there were times when I had to question my own sanity. It was quite literally driving me insane. It's also kinda hard to block someone out with nothing to block them out with. I mean you're stuck in a room with him, you can't just walk off. On lock down you get nothing to occupy your time, except a bible if you request it. I don't know if it's law or just the place's policy, but no one can be denied access to their religion. No other books were allowed.

no other books, really eh?

sounds... again just fucked. i know i'd be pissed. i'd probably make  stink about that and be smirked, mocked and laughed at... and probably piss off my inmate friend by saying i'd rather read War and Peace than the bible. and that's just nuts that must allow a bible but...

do they even have a library there? i would be so pissed if there was other options but they only let me have a bible.

fucking...; our great American holy book.

Nah there were other books, but on lock down they take everything they can from you. They want you to feel every second tick by.

I've never seen that verse. Jesus is the only man I confess.

I hear you. There is allot the Bible is completely  silent on or AT BEST one might be able to mold a passage completely  out of context in order to support or discourage an issue one faces.

Exactly. If Confession is the way you wanna go, go for it.

But to say it's an unforgivable sin?

Nah.

The sin is remaining unrepentant and turning away from God, that's why Christ instituted the sacrament of penance so we could receive absolution.

In fact he spoke on all 7 of the Sacraments which lead to their implementation.

Holy Orders
Penance
Baptism
Confirmation
Eucharist
Marriage
Anointing of the Sick

Wow, Koods....Why such a grim view of Catholics. You seem pretty cynical to me in your opinions.
It gets me why human nature will overlook all the good things that can come out of the church....Catholic charities, Feeding and clothing the homeless, job programs, allowing underprivileged kids an education...these are just a few; yet, focus on the few corrupt individuals and judge everything else by their fucked up standards.

I am not a practicing Catholic nor do I even consider myself a Christian....I am, however, a spiritual person and believe that we are not all here in some  random chaos. That said...I understand the need to confess, although, not necessarily in a church format, to someone of things that I've done that bother me about myself. Admitting our wrongs is the first step to actually correcting our behavior.:sunny::peace:

According to Georgetown University, the average weekly donation of an American Catholic to the church is $10. There are 85 million in North America, meaning each week the Catholic Church pulls in $850m through donations from individual Catholics.

Seems they could be a tad more generous with they're charities with the vast amount of money the Vatican has.

If only that money went to causes like cancer research, technological advancement, etc.

I've never set foot inside a church, or been to a confession, or been part of any religion since birth, wasn't even baptized, if god actually does exist and punishes me for all eternity solely because of that even though I live my life trying to be the best person I can be to other people, he's not a god I'd care to know anyway. God should judge on actions, not beliefs, especially in a world of uncertainty.

It says to be repentant.

Confession doesn't even really count as penance.

well if to be repentant means to regret shit, then i guess I'm safe?

I've done shit that I've truly regretted, yet at the same time feel I shouldn't regret it, because thanks to the mistake/mistakes I've made, I realize why it was a shitty thing to do, and don't do it again, and if possible, try to make it up to whoever I might have wronged.

Christianity/catholicism is for pussies.

Do something wrong, oh just tell a priest about it and everything is fine and forgiven.

You can live a shitty life being shitty to everyone around you, as long as you repent you're fine though... it's all just such bullshit.

I can't fathom why people believe this fairy tale garbage.

OP, do you believe that slavery is okay?
