Seriously? Is it a job requirement or something...

They catch a new priest every fuckin week. Its either child porn or little boys. It isn't a few isolated cases here and there or a coincidence anymore, its a trend. Its almost a scientific fact. Abstinence turns you into a gay pedophile.

After all that crap, people still believe in the church.

I believe the origins of the church's time-honored boy-fucking traditions are lost in antiquity. The Romans were fucking little boys before recorded history. Why do they do it? I don't know. I don't think I want to know, either. :argh:

If you look at the statistics, they really aren't any different than the rest of the population. The issue is that when they where caught they used to just get moved around.

Yeah, the argument actually kind of makes sense that there's just as much molestation going on in the church as there is in the general population... but that fact alone doesn't look too good for the church's vaunted moral authority.

And when they start actually protecting pedophiles from the authorities? Yup, that's pretty damned evil. This might even be considered a sovereignty issue. Time to rile up an anticatholic mob! :kingcrankey:

i think a lot of it has to do with the celibate life they have to take to be a catholic priest. let's face it, any man, even one sworn to god, is going to have urges. take that, plus a vow saying you can't make love to a woman, and surround them with alter boys all the time...well...shouldn't be a surprise.

there are a lot of genuinely good priests though. i grew up catholic, and they were very good to us. the thing which caused me to lose my faith really was when they condemned my mom for seeking a divorce, which is against church rules, even though my dad was beating her. neither i, nor the people in my family, ever knew a priest that did anything close to raping a boy. there are fucked up people out there, but a lot of it is media hype too.

And it's not just catholics, My wife's sister was supposed to get married this weekend. It was postponed because the baptist preacher got busted with child porn.

I think it's and authority problem. Absolute power corrupts, absolutely.

A priest and alter boy relationship is a bit flawed. When you mix a dependent young learner with a sexless old bat you kind of get a weird power relationship that turns predatory often.

In some sense, yes.  They are not allowed to marry, have a family or have sex - so naturally you are going to attack a certain kind of person with those criteria.

Right? Its a poor argument that men will inevitable resort to raping small boys if women arent available. Its a sin to sleep with children too, I would think, so why not just sin by sleeping with a woman?

Im pretty sure If I had to abstain from women I could abstain from sticking my dick in a small, smartly dressed alter boy.
