Anyone else have consistantly awful exp while meditating ?

Anyone else have consistantly awful exp while meditating ?

can you be more specific about what is happening? What technique are you using, what you're diet consists of beforehand (caffeine? alcohol? other substances?), and whatever other environmental factors.

Vipassena...
in the past I did a form of concentration meditation
focusing on good feelings etc - which I now consider
self-hypnosis which was quite pleasent.
Now I just observe my thoughts and then my mind
quiets down and I feel extreemly depressed n anxious :confused:

it seems like the only way to mitigate depression n anxiety
is to constantly challenge it with internal dialogue,
like Cognitive Therapists suggest...
This quiet mind thing doesn't seem to help...
just wondering if there's others here who have the same
effects while meditating.
Enotake mentioned that she had a similar experience after
a 10 day intensive retreat...I'm wondering if there's others...

I've had profoundly boring experiences meditating.

The only alterations in consciousness I've gotten were the same I've gotten a million times sitting in a dark room trying to go to sleep at night-basically the hypnagogic sleep state.

hmmm... my experiences were certainly not boring...
horrible, but not boring...
I've experienced VERY radical shifts in conciousness...
much more than any drug I've ever taken...
I mean very stark changes in perception, including hallucinations,
CEV's, blurred vision, racing thoughts, no thought, de-personalization, disorientation, OBEs etc...
