No , not exactly true...here in Holland, people mostly only eat one kind of mushroom. All other kinds are eaten by a relatively small group of people. In fact, I think mushroom consumption is about the same here as it is in the USA and in Canada. However, the're _are_ countries here in Europe where a real mushroom gathering culture exists.

I've always liked mushrooms, but my first couple of trips hooked me for life and I eat much more of the edibles since then. Portabella's rock. I'd love to be able to grow some of those.
Here in the midwest, there is a pretty nice morel population during the season. Think I may try to get into some hunting next Summer.

My interests - Tripping = magic mushrooms = growing magic mushrooms = growing edible mushrooms = mushroom hunting (for both edible and tripping types) = joining mycology association = learning wayyyy more than I ever really wanted (but it's fun).
Still hunting and keeping notes on season, weather conditions, etc so I can predict year by year what's likely to be where.
OT but worth it - keep a journal - after a few years it's pretty ratty but can pay off!
