Shaving
    #21362412 -

My girlfriend got me some really nice shaving cream
but it comes in a tub and I need a brush to apply

does anybody have any recommendations for shaving products? (not just brushes)

I love using soap and a brush.  Did so for years.  Lost my brush and now I just use the shit in the can from Barbasol.

I'm sure I will
but I was hoping someone would have some experience with them
so I'd know what to look for and/or avoid

I've only experienced a proper old school shave with a brush and straighblade the couple times I've been to a barber in the past decade. They were the best shaves ever.

If I wasn't so lazy about shaving my beard, I'd go all out on an expensive shaving kit.

It its a shaving CREAM then wet your face and the razor and brush with hot water, then take a bit of the cream on your finger and rub it over your cheeks, then whip it up with the (badger hair!) brush to a thick rich lather.

Keep the brush lathered up and make your first shaving pass, with the grain. Use a Double Edged (Safety) Razor or a Straight Razor if you have the skill.

Dip the tip of your brush into the water basin and then re-lather your face thinly with the lather still on the brush. Now go sideways or completely against the grain. Careful!

Wash, dry, aftershave.

DE Razors and Straight Razors are super easy to clean. Rinse the badger hair brush well.

Presto, you are done.

That's some awesome information you just posted.

Do you know how much a halfway decent shaving kit that includes the brush, cream, and razor cost?

you make it sound much more cimplicated than just -- wet face, apply shaving cream, then stroke your face with the razor where the hair is, then wash, dry, aftershave(if wanted)

straight razors are a lot more complicated, or so it seems to me anyways.

I would probably cut myself to hell trying to use one.

they have a steep learning curve (from what I hear)
your face also will take time to get used to it

I'd love to have one but the learning curve plus the $200+ price tag scare me away

Oh wow! I was thinking somewhere along the lines of 50 bucks for a good kit that includes the brush and cream. No way I'd invest in that at 200.

I'll stick to my dollar shave club razors. I get awesome razors (better than any other disposables I've tried before) for a dollar each every month with free shipping.
