Anyone hunt in Colorado, Boulder area?
    #2128583 - 11/22/03 02:06 AM (13 years, 9 months ago)

I know there is a mycology club of Denver, just curious if any people here hunt in Colorado or know if you can...for the silly kind of mushroom.

you should thank evan. for future reference, it is against the rules to ask what active species you can find in your state.

if you further follow the rules, you could find many posts via the search function, of past finds in your state, and perhaps even more specific to your area.

good luck, and happy hunting

If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.

Panaeolus subbalteatus is the other known species in Colorado.

You don't need to get to excited about hunting right now. We won't be seeing any significant numbers of mushrooms until at least next March or April.

As for the active species, almost all finds of those are in late July through early September. Even when they're up, there aren't very many overall. You'll have to do a bunch of hunting before you find any (unless you're looking in closets).

If you want to hunt, you should probably start studying now. That way, when the season gets here, you'll have a much better idea of what you're supposed to look for.

And, as concretefeet pointed out, you're not supposed to ask what you can find where. That's why we have an FAQ. Check the FAQ out and read the sticky posts at the top of the forum. When you find something, follow the instructions for describing your find to us, and we'll respond by trying to identify it for you. Skip the instructions, and watch your post get ignored by the people who are on the list of identifiers.

Happy mushrooming!

I appreciate the feedback, however I did not ask for nor needed such a detailed response, which is apparently against the rules. I was just wondering if anyone here hunted in colorado, and if there were active mushrooms. thanks!

I'm in Boulder.  Looks like an old post, but I thought I'd try.
