Optimum PH for growing fungi ?
    #2124385 -

I am just trying to grow oysters on bulk substrate like coffee grounds and cardboard. I have measured the ph-value of both substrates:
Coffee ground has a ph of about 5 and soaked cardboard has a ph of 6,5. PDYA has a PH of 6 and peat a PH of 4.
Since coffee ground seems a bit acidic to me, I wonder what the optimum ph-value for mushrooms is ? Or has each species it's own optimum ?

Edit: Added PH values of various substrates:

Peat: 4
Coffee ground: 5
Puffball soil: 5-5.5
PDYA: 6
Soaked cardboard: 6.5
Soaked newspaper: 6.0-6.5
Soaked straw: 6.5-7

Do you happen to know where I can get more info about what species needs what ph, especially oyster ? I had a look in GGMM and on the web but the only things I found was the ph of casing layers for Agaricus and Psilocybe.

The GGMM gives the pH for each species that is in the book.

Oysters will run bulk substrate faster if it is slightly basic.

Anno, I have found the pH specs for some species now. But I could not find any pH specifications for Pleurotus pulmonaris or the brown chilled wood lover ( Hypholoma capnoides ). I guess that Pleurotus pulmonaris might have the same needs as Pleurotus ostreatus.
